The game has changed! Originally published in 1990, significant changes have been made in almost every aspect of Ancient Empires. Popular basing for figures is now utilized, and the game now includes a point system and a conversion matrix for those familiar with the 'DBM' style of gaming.
If you have tired of the traditional “beer and pretzels” ancient games so common in the market place and you want more, take a look at Ancient Empires 2nd edition. With Ancient Empires 2nd edition you can get together for a small two to three hour battle using one of multiple figure scale options. If you find the great battles of antiquity interesting, and you want to refight a Zama or Pharsalus and enjoy a full day of gaming, you can do that as well.
Whether your preferences are Greeks, Romans, Parthians, Byzantines, or a host of others, you can field any one of the great armies of antiquity and refight an actual battle or choose hypothetical engagements; large or small. The rules are also in the process of having additions made to include Medieval Warfare. So if the knight in shining armor is your game, try this suit on!
The best part is that the rules are absolutely free for members and are located in the 'files' section of this site. Also enjoy various images of games and other points of interest at www.flickr.com/photos/grpitts .
