REGISTER YOUR TEAM AT GATE WHEN YOU SIGN-IN so we can get a newbie
assigned to your team.
WHAT IS IT?
=========================================
This is a team event. Team size should be about 5-6 people. The
object of the event is to teach one newbie the basic skills he will
need to survive his future life in Amtgard. Each team is assigned a
newbie at the event at random. They have a set amount of time to
prepare him for the tourney.
This includes garbing him/her per his/her chosen class. If a class
has not been chosen, guide them to a choice and then equip him/her
with weapons/spell balls, and spell lists. Teach the newbie basic
combat skills, and how to continue making the garb and whatnot.
Teams will need someone who can teach their newbie on fighting
technique or at least someone who can give them a few pointers for
about 20-30 minutes.
Each team will be given a starting kit. Teams are free to BRING BUT
WILL NOT BE SUPPLIED other items to help craft whatever they intend
on making (sewing machines/serger – there is electricity on-site,
extra foam (shield cores), leather for belts, etc.).
JUDGING
==========================================
each team's newbie is judged on 3 things:
a) Looks: How well the garb turned out, the more stuff the better.
(i.e. mediocre tunic and pants score higher than just a tunic, high
quality tunic may score higher than tunic and pants of lesser quality)
The more complete the outfit the better.
b) Combat: the newbies will fight in a single sword double
elimination tournament amongst themselves. All points should be
distributed so that even the least adept at fighting gets at least 1
pt. may talk to the Monarch so that lower level warriors can be given.
c) Practical: a quest scenario will be designed that each newbie
needs to be able to use class abilities/role-play/ or fight his way
out of.
Points will be given for rules knowledge of class, and creativity.
