Bounding Fire Productions is proud to announce that BFP3: Blood and Jungle is now available for pre-orders.  Head to our website, www.boundingfire.com

BFP3: Blood and Jungle is our first Battlepack based in the Pacific Theater of Operations. The unprecedented size of this product makes it unique in our industry, and follows in our tradition of high quality, exciting scenarios.

General content includes:

47 scenarios. They range from early 1930s Japanese vs. Chinese Action to 1947 KNIL (Dutch) vs. Indonesians. The scenarios range from tourny to monster, all infantry to combined arms, etc. A good chunk of the action does not necessarily have PTO Terrain in effect. Basically there is something in here for everyone scenario wise.

A large magazine with a variety of articles all with a PTO theme.

4 countersheets. Japanese Partially Armed Paratroopers, 5/8" counters for a variety of nationalities either rare/not in the system/captured: Thai, Indonesian, Japanese, Chinese, KNIL, US, Aussie.... and maybe some surprises.

Essentially 3 mapboards. One is our 'double wide' concept. The boards fit together for a large urban battlefield, and are geomorphic on all of the other sides.

.....and more.

We will be providing some pics, more information, etc.

Without a doubt this is a monster product, which I like to call 'the OtO of the PTO'. YMMV on this but I am fully confident if you like PTO you will love this product. If you are new and not necessarily interested in PTO, you will still really like this product.

We are ready to send this to the printers, so we are now taking pre-orders. Printing will take at least 4-6 weeks, so we should start shipping in January. Pre-order pricing is $104 for US and Canadian orders and $113 for everywhere else.  As always this price INCLUDES all shipping and handling.  Once we roll this out, retail price will be $125, so take advantage of the pre-order price and immerse yourself in all things PTO.

Thanks for your dedicated support of Bounding Fire Productions.

Banzai!! 14.3 is now available for download! Dan Preston strings us along with another of his clever efforts. Rick Reinesch provides a wrap-up of the 2009 Texas Team Tournament, along with all of the final results. We are treated to a very comprehensive, exciting Campaign Game AAR from the prolific and loquacious Nick Drinkwater of KGP II: Bridge at Cheneux. Dan also throws in a good Tactical Tip, and we interview the folks who bring us the The Two Half-Squads podcast, Jeffery Hallett and Dave Kleinschmidt.

Just head out to the Texas ASL website at www.texas-asl.com

Enjoy!

Rick

This is also a call to the greater ASL community for articles to appear in Banzai!!. If you have an aspect of the game you'd like to expound on, an AAR, scenario analysis, whatever, write it up and send it to us! Take a look at the Texas ASL website for all of the information and guidelines. We'd love to hear from you!

For those that attended the Texas Team Tournament this year, please check your stuff. Here is a rundown of stuff left in the room at the tournament.  I found the following:

A QDRC.   [Someone mentioned that this might be Hondo's?]
A rulebook in a red binder cover.  This was found over in the corner near where Sam Tyson was sitting and where I had my stuff set up. Pete Shelling did a lot of playing over in this corner.
A set of wrap-around sunglasses.
A 2x2 ft piece of plexiglass.
A dark green die and a small white die and large white die.

Trying to catch up on my sleep after my annual exercise in sleep deprevation. We had a record setting turnout at the Texas Team Tournament this year - 49 folks preregistered and 4 more folks as walk-ins, for a total of 53 participants this year, with a number of new faces joining in the festivities. The ASL was going fast and furious for all four days of the tourney with a ton of games played. We gave away a ton of stuff at our raffle on Saturday, with everyone walking away with something. The sponsors were really to be commended this year with the state of the economy and all, but their support was terrific was a big hit for all of the participants as everyone walked away with a least one item from the table.

In the end we had a number of folks walk away with hardware. From the Thursday Opening Assault mini, the team of Paul Chamberland and John Farris took home the Allied and Axis Commander dioramas, respectively. In the other mini on Thursday, for the Omaha Beach landing using CH's "First Wave At Omaha", Jim Ferrell was the lucky participant who walked away with the game. (I'll have some writeups and pictures around the Omaha playing shortly). The Audie Murphy trophy for the most snakes over the course of the tourney was won by Zeb Doyle (28), and in a tour de force Gary Fortenberry racked up a record 53 boxcars in four days to take home the Col. Klink award. Gary was on a torrid pace having acquired 28 box cars over the span of two scenarios, so the fact he wound up with "only" 53 is amazing in and of itself.

For the major prizes, the team of Rob Burton (Houston) and Roy Connelly (Wichita) walked away with the overall Team Tourney prize. And for the individual awards, Mike Seningen (Austin) survived an onslaught by Jim Ferrell (Ft. Worth) to take the overall 10-3 award, with Jim being awarded the 9-2 runner-up.

The website has already been updated for next year, so if you want to register for the 18th Annual Texas Team Tournament, go for it. All the details are on the website, but as always we are the week after Father's Day. That means you should begin planning now to make that trek to Austin from June 24-27, 2010 and join in the fun.

Hey, just wanted to let folks know that I've talked with Pete Shelling and we're going to be holding a couple of Schwerpunkt playtest minis on Friday and Saturday for Pete. This'll be open to 4 folks each day, and Pete has indicated that he will have some prizes. So make sure to contact me or Pete either when you get here to Austin, if not before, and let us know you want to help out the hobby, playtest some always cool Pete Shelling designs, and have a great shot at winning some early prizes during the tourney.

Comrades,

The Banzai staff is pleased to announce that issue 14.2 of the
newsletter of Texas ASL is now available for free download from
the club website:

http://texas-asl.com/banzai/banzai14_2.pdf

This issue happens to be our 50th overall, and we're hoping you'll
celebrate this milestone with us by enjoying reading it as much as
we enjoyed creating it. This issue is packed with lots of high-quality
content, as you've come to expect from Banzai. Within its 26 pages,
Zeb Doyle takes us to class with a naval OBA clinic and an
explanation of critical hits. There are two scenario analyses by
yours truly (The Meat Grinder and Up Inferno Hill), skillfully aided by
Rick Reinesch's excellent graphical skills as copy editor. He's really
turned it up a notch in illustrating our articles. Rick also gives us
the low-down on the fast-approaching Texas Team Tournament in Austin
in June (get your preregistration in!), and Walter Eardley tells us about
some of his favorite scenarios. Rick provides a tactical tip, and Sam and
I reflect on turning 50.

Many thanks to Rick, Zeb, Sam, and Walter for their contributions to this
issue, and to all the folks who have contributed over the last 13+ years
and 50 editions.

Deadlines are coming up fast - the deadline for locking in our very discounted hotel room rate ($65/day) is June 5th and the preregistration deadline is June 10th.

Since this is the 65th anniversary of D-Day, we're featuring an all day playing on Thursday of the invasion of Normandy with the soon-to-be-released "First Wave at Omaha" from Critical Hit. The plan as of now is to have 4 to 6 guys play from when the doors open on Thursday morning to whenever that night. And when the smoke has cleared, we will hold a drawing and one of the combatants is going to take the game home with them!  Get on out the CH's website for all of the info on the game.
We're also going to feature a mini centered on the bocage, featuring the following scenarios from AP4 and BtB2, Round 1: AP32 Second Crack at Caumont and Round 2: BtB11 Bosq Barbeque.

As the Texas Team Tourney approaches, I'm excited to announce that the Opening Assault Mini will once again be taking place on Thursday, June 25, 2009! The action will be something unique and special this year; revolving around the invasion of Normandy and the subsequent battles in the hedgerows of Northern France in celebration of the 65th Anniversary of this period. This is your chance to experience a small part of this pivotal battle for continental Europe and see if you can survive that fateful day and the days that followed.

We are actually sponsoring two minis for this year. For the first mini, we are featuring the Critical Hit product First Wave at Omaha. This module brings the fury of Bloody Omaha to the players in a massive historical module that has three linking maps to recreate OMAHA West and portions of Omaha East with SIX FEET of running map length. Every detail is there, and all of the Vierville and Les Moulins draws. You'll recreate the scene of the hardest fighting in Normandy and the setting for the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan. The expectation is that we will have 4 to 6 players battle on the beachhead all day long. And at the end of the day, we will hold a drawing with one of the participants taking home the game. Join in and experience something truly unique in the world of ASL.

For the other mini, we will be featuring two scenarios, one from last years Action Pack 4, and one from the just recently released Bounding Fire Production's Beyond the Beachhead 2. As always players will be paired up, one Axis and one Allied, to hopefully remove any issues with scenario balance. Your objective is too just a little bit better than the other players of your side, either Allied or Axis. The team with the largest number of points at the end of scenario play will be the winner. It's that simple. Without further delay, here are the scenarios we'll be playing:

Round 1: AP32 Second Crack At Caumont
Round 2: BtB11 Bosq Barbeque

Here's a little background on the scenario for Round 2,

"le Haut du Bosq, France, 26 June, 1944: As part of Operation Epsom, the 9th Cameronians had the farthest first day objective, the village of le Haut du Bosq. For the attack they were supported by Churchill tanks of the 7th Royal Tank Regiment, and Crocodile flamethrowers from 141 Regiment RAC. The weather prevented any aircraft from supporting the attack, although the frontline German positions were pounded by a massive artillery bombardment. The Cameronians initially had to fight through the lines of Battalion II, SS Panzergenadier Regiment 26. The infantry and the tanks were hit hard by artillery fire, but by 1100 they were at the outskirts of the village."

We will kick off all mini play promptly at 9am Thursday, June 25 th. If you are interested in participating in either mini, please contact the Tournament Director (me) directly. We'll post participants for the minis online as they come in.

Cost of entry is included with your tournament registration fees. Any special rules applicable to either Opening Assault Mini-Tournament will be provided at the Tournament.  Please check out our website for all the contact and tournament details at www.texas-asl.com .

Comrades,
The staff of Banzai!! is very pleased to announce that issue 14.1 of the
Newsletter of Texas ASL is now available for free download from the club

This issue is chock full of ASL content. We are once again graced by a pair of
articles from the loquacious Nick Drinkwater (ably assisted by Rick Reinesch's
graphical wizardry), and far too belatedly have finally gotten around to
interviewing Walter Eardley for our Player Profile. Rick Reinesch gives us the
lowdown on the 17th Annual Texas Team Tournament, and a few of the usual
suspects tell their stories, banter about nifty scenarios, and give us tips on
rules and tactics.

While you are at it, if there is a past issue you might have missed (there are
47 psat issues now!) they are all available for free download as well. So check
out all of the issues of Banzai!! and find out why we are the best ASL

standings start Friday morning at 9AM.

For those looking for a little different head-on-head action, The ASL
Team Tournament is pleased to announce two mini-tournaments this year

Opening Assault : A One Day Thursday Mini-Tournament and TEXAS HEAT :
A One Day Saturday Mini-Tournament

Again, remember to Pre-Register -- Besides you never know what
goodies you might find in your pre-registration packet. In the past
there has been sneak preview scenarios, local CTASL scenarios in
color on card stock, personal leader counters, and usually a handful
of other goodies from our sponsors.

All these details and more can be found at our Texas ASL website.
http://www.texas-asl.com . Just follow the tournament links.

Unfortunately something has come up and I will miss this saturday (
opprotunity to play Tigers Eye for free in Sunset Beach with my dad )
but I will definitely be able to make the next saturday event.

Besides it will give me a few weeks to blow the dust and cobwebs off
the binder and reqcquaint myself with the rules ( been over 10 years
since I played )
