A word of warning before you join this group: we play the Avalon Hill's Advanced Civilization game, based on the Advanced Civilization board game also from Avalon Hill. This is not, I repeat: not, the same as Sid Meier's Civilization or Civilization II from Microprose.

Advanced Civilization is played by E-mail. A game typically involves five to eight players and rarely takes less than a year and a half to complete. Playing and completing a game requires dedicated players and in order not to let this dedication go unnoticed or unrewarded, we have decided to create the Advanced Civilization Ladder.

New ladder members start with 1000 ladder points. Players win and loose ladder points for each ladder sanctionned games that they complete. Members also earn extra ladder points for being active players and loose ladder points when they do not play in any game for an extended period of time. A high ladder score is an indication that a member is a good and active player while a low ladder score should reflect that the player is no longer active on the ladder.
