Set immediately following the events of Star Trek: Nemesis, the USS Cochrane is an independant Star Trek: Play By E-Mail Role-playing Game. This vessel has the most civilian crew of any in Starfleet. This makes the Cochrane almost a mobile space station. This vessel will be one of exploration, but may occasionally be called upon to act as a showpiece demonstrating both military might and civilian grandeur. Some in Starfleet see this as a conflict of interest, other as a logical extension of Federation policies.
