Morien murmurs a reply: "Sir, they have already given us the outer walls. If this is a ruse, it is a poor one. I would have slaughtered us outside the walls, were I a treacherous enemy commander, rather than concede the walls. I'll be happy to join Gwair's company in getting closer to the keep's gate, which we must carry with all speed if we hope to be successful."
"I agree," declares Gwair, in his enthusiam forgetting to keep his voice down, "the quicker we can be ready the better. I am sure Morien is right, this seems to be no ruse. Besides, surely some of the men on the walls can keep their eyes open for trouble and cover us if it rears its ugly head!"
