Errata Discussion: Giant Magnet   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #249 of 272 |
In reading the rules for area of effect powers and Giant Magnet, it
seems like one can make the case for stealing the Giant Magnet with
itself, allowing you to move the warrior. The relevant rules are:

From the rules "Area of Effect":
"The warrior is always in the center of the area and is not affected
by the power."

From the text of Giant Magnet:
"You may attempt to steal any one magnetic object within the 15x15 area."

The target of the effect of Giant Magnet is not a warrior, but a
gadget, so while the warrior is not affected by the power, the rules
say nothing about a gadget being affected.

The ability to attempt to steal the Giant Magnet with the Giant
Magnet, providing you with the ability to trade your strike for a
2-square movement is problematic, so I propose one of the 2 errata:

Errata Suggestion 1: rules "Area of Effect"
"The warrior is always in the center of the area and the center square
is never within the area of effect of the power."

Errata Suggestion 2: Giant Magnet
"You may attempt to steal any on magnetic object, except this one,
within the 15x15 area."

Thoughts?
