Southend Gamers is a nine year old social group of gamers (currently 63 strong) interested in strategy-style boardgames, generally known as Eurogames, but we'll play just about anything though we do NOT play the Avalon Hill hex n counter wargames or card (as in poker) games. We often play a "party-style" game like Pictionary as a break between games. We are a roughly 70/30 mix of men/women, with an average age of 32. I am the founder & primary host and so we typically meet at my home on Saturdays but occasionally a session is hosted by one of our members. Our average group size is eight. I have over 219 games to choose from. There are no fees or charges to join or play with our group.
In 2006, Southend gamers introduced dayhikes, offroad exploration, picnics and potluck barbecues that include indoor and outdoor games that have been popular. Outdoor games include Bocce ball, Croquet, Lawn darts (original!), Badminton, Bean bag baseball, Snake ball and Washerboard.
We often order pizza or other food, so come prepared to pay your fair share. You should bring your own drink(s) and a favorite game, if any, is welcome to introduce to the group.
I try to write a session report for every event and also take photos of a session that has new members with a brief synopsis of the players attending and what games were played to help members get to know one another better and get a feeling for the games themselves.
If you are allergic to cats, be warned - I have two. My home is no smoking but you may smoke outside if you wish. If you'd like to stop in for a visit to check us out, feel free to do so, game day or not. Just call and arrange a meeting. We are located just north of Seatac airport.
