Description

This list is about having fun in War Games. If you’re one of those guys who thinks that when you win a game of “Afrika-Korps” it proves you could have won as Rommel in World War II, then this is the wrong list for you! You will be absolutely miserable here!

This is a community for people who revel in the most basic joy of wargames: the sense of wonder and the spirit of play. Sense of wonder on the one had is the “WOW NEAT!” factor, and spirit of play is– “ Let’s pretend.”

And what could be more “neat” and more “pretend” than when we set our fancies free and we discover that the world is not enough! The real world that is, and we set to indulging our passions with the construction, organization, painting, and collection of armies of mythical and imaginary nations with fanciful names like “Scandalusia,” “Laagerburg,” “Ober-Bindlestiff,” and “Saxe-Burlap und Schleswig-Beerstein..” Such realms take their honerable place with those devised by those greats of the hobby– Brigadier Peter Young and Charles Grant, and others.

Be they straight historical though, or fanciful legions in pink and purple, what unites us all is the unabashed adulation of fun– of pure humor and buffoonery– and the idea that nothing in our hobby should be serious. Neither the fates of nations or our reputations hang in the balance in our games, and hence, our view of history likely hankers more after the Marx Brothers than Marx.
