I know Serge is going. I am going to be able to go for work, and was
wondering if anyone was thinking of going who needs a partner for the
doubles events?

Come on you know you want to.. airfare is cheap. :)

I think he's probably the only one or else we would've heard by now
since it is next weekend.

Try posting on www.lafoosball.com . There will probably be a lot more
of the SoCal guys going.

Hey I've been out of town, and haven't had a chance to respond to the
offer. I'd be interested in playing a few times to help out but just
can't make the commitment with things going on at work. Thanks for
putting this together. Good luck.

The Tourney's will be twice a month with quite a few byes, making it like once a
month more so. I'm not sure how many Members will sign up and even if they sign
up, if I don't launch it right, many will not take it seriously. With 1 table
and many newbies, games will go fast. But having a good number of NorCal Players

The Draft and Informational Night and Practice is on May 30, Wednesday
5:30pm-6pm. That is when I'll get a feel for the way things will go. I
appreciate the great response so far and would love/need more! Up to all of

Binh-

Cool-i envision teams of Foosers taking turns working with certain Member (eg:
You n Amy partner w a Member and 1 of you show forthe Tourney, trades,
practicing etc.

My first hurdle will be to get the Members to sign up and the Draft/1st
Wednesday will be a make it or break (my guess) it is hard to read Members
interest and even if they sign up. My focus is asking people to committ which at
least a dozen have given me verbals and that is the strongest committment I can
get as I think I'm taken fairly seriously with a certain top heavy backing (my
deal to deal with) but as DK echoed, having a Fooser and a Member matched would
be the best, most competitive, fun, level playing field Tourney possible.

So if you can "team" with someone to committ to 1 thru a max 3 (maybe once in
playoffs if á you're winning- tops 3 times a month, once out of the 4 months.

So far about half dozen Fooser have expressed interest to committment and I
personally appreciate any Fooser who would help the Tourney. It's different,
it's a chance to get new players into it, a chance to meet some interesting
people while playing for the love of the game. Even though I "play for fun", I
am committed to help Foosball where I can on a serious level. Just when I play
in Tourney's etc.

Those of you, who sign up, will be treated with a high level of respect and
service. Food and Drinks are not much more costly than any other quality
restaurant. The drinks are probably cheaper than bars. EG: Club Sandwich cooked
nearly any way you like with Mashed Potatoes/gravy, Fries, Rings, Sallasd from
House to Ceasar and Iced Tea with a table spread of hot wings to chips and dip,
samples of hor'dervs for $12 to Burger with Mushrooms, grilled onions, Cheese,
fries etc-plain or with everything same price, $12 or so. Pancakes? All EggWhile
Omlette? Iced Tea and Water is free/included. Soda to Gatorade to Kerns $2,
Beers $3-4, nothing like $9 vodkas. Not necessary to eat there just an example
of pricing. Coffee, Tea, Ice cream and dessert is also included too unless you
ask for a 8 scoop 5 bananas, chocolate syrup and whipped cream (real whipped
cream) you "might get charged but if charged maybe $5?!" I had a Burger, Mashed
Potatoes, Fruit plate, Vanilla and Chocolate Ice Cream, coffee and cheescake for
$12. I went off on the sweets watching the Warrior game with about 20 other
Members and I was eating light. Tipping is not allowed, no cash is to be given
to Employees unless you want to slip em a $5 on the. DK. But if people see it,
you'll be told not to give empoyees anything. Find a seat and order whatever and
they bring it to you. Chips, munchies to start, a pickle cut in quarters etc.

Anyways, just a snap shot of the F&B protocol-everyone will tell the waiter to
put on my bill and on an honor system for who ever eats/drinks to come to me and
square with me, Cool?!

It'll be fun even when u aren't playing/waiting for your turn. People are
relaxed, boozing, cigar smoking, playing cards, etc.

A good mid-week to you all!

Courtney,

I have to echo Binh's response.  Things are pretty crazy for me right now, too!  But I'm willing to try and squeeze in some foosball where I can.  Keep me updated!

The Tourney's will be twice a month with quite a few byes, making it like once a month more so. I'm not sure how many Members will sign up and even if they sign up, if I don't launch it right, many will not take it seriously. With 1 table and many newbies, games will go fast. But having a good number of NorCal Players come would lend a lot of purpose for them to make it! Real parody and someone to help them! They will listen!

The Draft and Informational Night and Practice is on May 30, Wednesday 5:30pm-6pm. That is when I'll get a feel for the way things will go. I appreciate the great response so far and would love/need more! Up to all of you-if you can join, great! If not, no problem! Thanks to all!

Unfortunately it's a little far for us to play in weekly or with
some sort of commitment. Sounds like fun though - once it's all set
(# of players and how long you want each match to last), let me know
and I'll get some sheets together.

Courtney, count me as a maybe, but I can't commit to be a regular. I'm
pretty nervous about commuting to/from SF with the recent problem. I
don't know how that's affecting the commute. There have been a few
times, returning from SF Foos tourneys at 1 or 2am, where I've had major
issues with bridge construction. Once had a 3 hour delay at 2am!!!! So
I'll have to play it a bit by ear, but will try to come out.

Hi Bruce,

I'm not sure how much you're reading this, but in case you are, I
thought I'd jump in. I was one of the people that voiced an opinion
about this format, both on the board, and to you in person.

My main point was that the current format (semi's play goalie for
rookies) was a bit too imbalanced. Overall, I really like the format,
and don't mind playing nets, but I think we saw after two times running
it, with all of the semi teams (plus DragonLady) finishing out of the
money, that it just seems too hard to overcome so many balanced amateur
teams.

One thing we discussed was tweaking the format just a little bit, but
not abandoning it entirely. So one tweak was to add roto into the
format in the second game, so the semi got a chance to play a little
forward. This might even things a little bit. Another tweak was to
keep the semi's as goalies, but to draw them against the whole "low"
half of the group, not strictly against rookies.

Anyway, that's just my .02 worth. The format has been very successful
at getting new players out, giving them a chance to compete on a pretty
level playing field, and I'm all for that. And I'm betting Karen, Mo,
and Victor would also be all for that.

Cheers,
john
p.s. I also liked the entry fees of the old format ;-)

I think he is posting tonight as the SF format (roto in 2nd game,
similar to SF's format)?

However, that being said, I do enjoy watching you Biundo the ball at
least once a match - might even be worth playing goalie for a scrub
to see that level of entertainment!

Hello Everyone! Thanks for Everyones Interest! Right now we are winding down the
B-Ball League and promoting the Foosball event with the Athletic Director will
require some clear strong moves.

The League DRAFT and MIXER including Open Play will be on Wednesday May 30
starting anywhere between 5:30pm to 6:30pm sign-ups (calls OK) and 7pm start OR
6:30pm and run until about 10-12am (Tourney's will be on Wednesday nights) and
depending on the number of Teams!

I will keep everyone posted as it get closer. Members liked the idea of having a
Partner that plays! I appreciate the help from EVERYONE! I will discuss the
format, The Tourney Sheets and other items later on.

Again, THANKS ALL! Will be in touch!

EVERYONE KEEP POSTED. I'LL FIGURE SOMETHING OUT WHERE PEOPLE CAN TEAM UP TO TAKE TURNS, COVER FOR OTHERS ETC!

THANKS FOR ALL THE INTEREST!

IT'S FUNNY, NATE HAAS ASKED ME YESTERDAY, "COURTNEY, CAN I DRINK? I HAVE TWO MARTINIS AND I CAN ONLY PLAY GOOD IF I HAVE A FEW MORE! CRACK UPS! THEY WON'T GET SLOPPY DRUNK BUT THESE GUYS PARTY; MAYBE FOOSBALLS BEING THROWN AT EACHOTHER (NOT ANY FOOSER BUT MEMBER TO MEMBER) THERE MIGHT BE SIDE MONEY GOING ON BUT I'M GONNA IGNORE IT AND NONE OF YOU HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT FORKING OUT ANYTHING. THEY WILL THINK I CAN BEAT SERGE AND PUT A COUPLE HUNDRED ON ME AND THEN I MIGHT HAVE TO STEP ON THE B-BALL COURT AGAINST THEM TO PAY FOR THE LOST OR RUN AS FAST I CAN OUT OF THERE. IT WILL BE HILARIOUS! GOOD GUYS AND ALL RESPECTFUL OF ME, SO YOU ARE ALL SAFE FROM FINANCIAL LIABILITY. THEY WILL COME AFTER ME, IF THEY CAN CATCH ME. WHAT WORKS IS A SCOOP OF ICE CREAM ON ICE HIDDEN AND IF I'M ATTACKED, I TOSS THE ICE CREAM AND SMACK EM ON THE HEAD. THEN THEY BACK OFF :)

WITH WHIP CREAM AND PEANUT BUTTERS AND JELLY MIXED IN. ONE OF THE WAITERS KNOWS MY "WINK" RECIPE CALLED THE "DEFENSE DESSERT"! THEIR GOD FOR ABOUT 1/2 BLOCK BUT AFTER THAT THEY SUCKING WIND WHILE I'M ON THE 3RD BLOCK! HAHAHAHA SOUND LIKE A JOKE BUT ODD THINGS HAPPEN BUT ALL IN FUN AND I'LL GET THE BRUNT IF ANY OF YOU BLOW A GAME :)

Courtney, count me as a maybe, but I can't commit to be a regular. I'm

don't know how that's affecting the commute. There have been a few

issues with bridge construction. Once had a 3 hour delay at 2am!!!! So
I'll have to play it a bit by ear, but will try to come out.

EVERYONE'S/ANYONE'S INPUT WOULD BE GREAT!

I need to organize the Members internally to make sure I have a good group that
will play and be there for the 4 months first. If I can get 10+ then having 10+
Foosers (or 10+ Teams to match would be great!

CW

Has anyone heard of a Ladder Tourney turn Team A VS Team B. (EG: 8 Teams. Like
playoffs, everyone on A plays B twice and then let say A wins overall, then the
A's take eachother on to do the Ladder. Too complicated? Any ideas, suggestion,
formats, etc I'm all ears as I don't know what I'm doing except getting myself
to committ to something rare.

Thanks All.

Thanks for organizing this Courtney. Sounds like a lot of fun. I'll be able
to show up on the 30th just as long as I can leave by 10:30. Go Warriors!
Get a chance to go to any of the games?

Google runs a foosball ladder. Don't know if it's like what you
describe or not. See if Matt responds -- I know he reads the Silicon
Valley list, not sure about SF though. If not, you could e-mail him
directly (shoot me an e-mail if you need his addy).

playoffs, everyone on A plays B twice and then let say A wins overall, then the
A's take eachother on to do the Ladder. Too complicated? Any ideas, suggestion,
formats, etc I'm all ears as I don't know what I'm doing except getting myself
to committ to something rare.

Did you get a partner for AZ?? Also, how long are you going to be in
AZ. Just trying to figure out if I should leave on Sunday night or
Monday afternoon. I know it's a mothers day weekend.

I get there saturday morning.. kinda sucks, seems like a wasted
weekend. =(

Let me know

There can be arguments made in many areas but it's nothing set in stone just something to read if you're bored.

We won't tell. Get more on shows you hate to love

KK-

Don't you know that you need to post this stuff on Mondays, so we have something to do during work?  Only married people post on weekends (and people with crackberries, CW) ;-)
