Welcome to the home of the Star Frontiers Underground!

Star Frontiers was a science fiction role playing game created by TSR Hobbies in the early 1980's. Written by Lawrence Schick and David "Zeb" Cook, it marked TSR's first foray into the space opera genre. After a brief heyday, TSR support of the system waned and it went extinct as the decade ended.

Almost. A few diehard fans remained, and in the early 90's a listserv arose to serve the Star Frontiers fan community. This first listserv went bust, but the banner was taken up by "Reverend Roy" who ran the second listserv into the late 90's.

The SF Listserv developed into a tight knit community, whose members organized several miniconventions devoted to the game. As the web developed, Star Frontiers websites multiplied.

Alas, the good times could only last so long. Roy's listserv eventually crashed and burned. Various websites took up the Star Frontiers banner (notably starfrontiers.com and starfrontiers.org), offering forums to exchange ideas.

This was great, but a bunch of us longed for the convenience of the old listserv. This group is the new home for veterans of the old Star Frontiers listserv, as well any other Star Frontiers fans lurking out on the internet. We have succeeded remarkably in tracking down the members of the old listserv to rebuild the old community (hence the moniker "Star Frontiers Underground", as opposed to say the "Universal Home of All Things Star Frontiers"). Now that that has been accomplished, all fans of Star Frontiers - both system and campaign world - are welcome.

In short, this list is for the discussion of Star Frontiers and other roleplaying topics, and a new home for members of the fondly remembered old listserv. All rules sets are covered here - Alpha Dawn, Zebulon's Guide, SF2000 and d20 Future.
