Description

This is list in support of the various SAGA Warfare rules systems, from Ancient and Medieval Warfare to World War One Warfare...and everything in between. History, tactics, scenarios and rules discussions are all topics that will be valued and looked for. One thing we do demand is courtesy and civility. Welcome aboard!

As backgreound, the first rulebook was Medieval Warfare (MW), which covers 450 to 1500 CE. It is now being published by The (Wargames) Foundry in the UK. This company will eventually publish Ancient Warfare (AW), which covers 3000 BCE to 450 CE, as well as the army lists for MW and AW. Currently there is no forecasted release date for these publications so please contact Saga Publishing for the army lists and AW rulebooks.

Saga also has Renaissance Warfare (RenWar or RW), which covers 1500 to
1690, Lace Warfare (LW - 1690 to 1783), Napoleonic Warfare
(NapWar or NW - 1789 to 1815), & Victorian Warfare
(VicWar - 1854 to 1901).

Future releases include:

Fantasy Warfare (FW), which is similar to MW with special sections on
magic and army lists based on many popular fantasy armies (elves,
dwarves, orcs, etc.);

Verdun Warfare, which will cover WW1 with an emphasis on the Western
Front (Belgium and France 1914-1918);

Siege Warfare (SW), which is a supplement for AW and MW, and is for
siege operations prior to the general adoption of gunpowder artillery;

Vauban Warfare will be a supplement for RW, LW and NW, and will be for
siege operations of the early gunpowder eras; and

Skirmish Warfare will be for small scale actions and will complement
AW and MW (and possibly other rulebooks).

A separate but related project is Paul Dobbins' Trojan Warfare. This
is based on AW with many modifications and variations. He supports TW
on a separate website:

If you want to know more about any Saga publication, then please post
a message on this website, answers normally in 2 days.

Re: questions about Mw rules
You do not fall out of shieldwall if disordered but you do if fragmented. Shieldwall can charge. Skirmish units do count toward 1/3 loss. [Non-text portions of

Re: questions about Mw rules
1. A unit may be disordered (but not fragmented) and still be in shieldwall. A mixed unit is permissible if allowed in the army lists. A shieldwall can charge

Re: Base size
There are two basing systems mentioned in the rules. We also encourage players to use their own system so that they do not have to rebase figures. If you
