I liked the article. The whole thing reminded me of Harry Golden, a moderately
famous author in the 1950-60s period (Only in America, For Two Cents Plain, etc.
and a "Whenever there is enough copy written" personal newspaper (blog today)
called the Carolina Israelite.
He was also known for ridiculing Jim Crow laws with his Golden Integration
Plans.
Golden Vertical Integration Plan: The South has always had integration at bus
stops, bank lines, etc., it is only when they sit down that there is a problem.
So take out all the school desks and put in stand-up accountant desks and the
schools can be integrated withot any problems.
Golden Out of Order Plan: Turn off the white water fountain and put up an out
of order sign. Ultimately the whites will get thirsty enough to drink from the
colored fountain. After awhile, take down the racial signs, and still later,
turn the old white fountain back on.
I am convinced these were actually used in Dallas. Downtown department stores
took out the tables in their lunch rooms and built a large shelf around the room
where people ate standing up, looking at a blank wall. It was integrated. The
water fountain bit was used at the Ross Ave. Sears (now torn down and a
supermarket is in its place).
When North Carolina was debating massive resistance, Golden proposed these to
the state legislature. He ended his testimony with the "threat" that if
they didn't, he would organize the Jewish Society for the Preservation of the
Christian Ethic.
He also pointed out if there were a worldwide nuclear war, it would serve
humanity right that the survivors would have the dark skin and wide nose of the
Negro - and gorilla, and the thin lips and heavy body hair of the whites - and
gorilla, and just start all over again. Somehow most whites never noticed they
resembled gorillas as much as blacks did. It might be time to bring that up
again.

Hi everyone,
Last year I reviewed a 3rd party D&D 4e product called "Races of the Shroud:
The Apelord." I was kind of bothered by the racial coding and said so in my
review, but I found I got dismissed a lot. With the recent controversy over
the NY Post's chimp cartoon -- and heightened awareness of the way in which
Africans and African Americans have been portrayed as monkeys -- I'm
wondering if I was on to something after all.
Here's the original post; what do you think?
