Re: [Piquet] Re: ravenna

Ken,

Glad you had a great time with the scenario; I've played it myself and it
gave a tense game. In fairness, OI have to point out this gem is one of
James Roach's scenarios, however.

I've fought Cerignola, Agnadello (ast HCon this week and once prior),
Pavia, Sudomer (Hussites), and Arbedo with BoB2, and the results were generally
in accord with history, although obviously not down to the last detail by
any means.

Ken Blackley has played most of the Swiss-Burgundian actions with the same
finding.

Obviously, the results of every battle shouldn't be predicatble, but most
of these actions had special features that certainly make them a not
entirely even proposition to begin with.

Peter

Hello Peter,

We played the scenario to conclusion tonight, and I must say it was a
cracker.
The battle opened with artillery on both sides causing considerable
damage. The Spanish cavalry, on the flank, decided they had had enough and
advanced to challenge the French gendarmarie, whereupon the Spanish C.in.C
Cordoba was decapitated by a cannon ball! Amid the confusion the French
nobility
charged, and the Spanish army never really recovered.
Meanwhile, Jacob Empser, and his landsknechts were being mauled by the
Spanish guns and boldly advanced. They took fearful losses but eventually
swarmed over the earthworks and routed their tormentors.
However they were by now a spent force, and a counter charge by Italian
pikes sent them reeling.
By now the French cavalry were breaking through on both flanks and the
Spanish morale, already low following the early loss of their leader,
shattered and the army broke.
Considering this is almost exactly what happened historically, we were
very happy with this conclusion.
I've always seen this as a yardstick for a good set of rules.

Well done Peter on a great set of rules,

Cheers, Ken

contact with the enemy when the card is turned. Being Fearsome themselves,
they are "not impressed" by enemy Fearsome units!

brilliant leader cards, and has always used them as artillery reload, this has

the artillery deadly, but probably unhistorically so. can these cards be
used in this way? or do you have to change what you want them to be if you
have more than one?
