I arrived at work at 0800 this morning to find a heavy wooden box piled up with little lead knights, archers and such, subsequently I realised that this wasn't a bribe from some canny pharmaceutical rep but Dave Elson's collection of medieval figures, most seem to about mid 14 Century Essex figures with some earlier and some later also some exquisite Naismith Design figures of the same vintage. A quick survey of the figs at Lunch time comes up with the equivalent of ( some of the figs are not attached to any bases or painted fully )
31 Bases of Knights ( including Generals )
24 bases of dismounted Men at Arms
4 bases of Hobilars as Cv, could be 6 bases of LH
4 Bases of Pikes
13 Bases of Spearmen (Sp) could easily become Ax(X)
18 Bases of Archers (Reg long bows), with 9 being Naismith and 9 being possibly Minifigs which could become 12 Irr Bw
13 bases of Handgunners Ps(S)
4 Bases of small gunnes (Art(I))
4 bases of Crossbowmen Irr Bw , could be 6 bases of Ps(O)
6 bases of Poleaxemen, could be 8 bases of Bd(X)
Has anyone any thoughts as to which army he should try to muster, I was thinking first of all would be Hundred Year War English, Medieval French, Later Crusader, Romanian Frank, Free Company or Medieval Portugese.
I think that the Knights are too early to really represent War of the Roses although a Morph would be OK.
Also I don't recommend Medieval German as the list is too hard to figure out. There isn't any Eastern type LH to allow Poles or Serbs or Teutonic Knights.
Actually the more I think of it, the cluster of HYW English, Medieval French, Free Company and Med Portugese is fairly morphable and could be covered by some flags easily downloaded from http://www.warflag.com/
Advice for Dave anybody?
PS Svend, you will find that you don't have a book 4 as I seem to have two.
PPS Svend your copy of book 4 has suddenly become quite tatty and seems to be falling apart, whilst mine has become quite new and no longer has all those scribbles that I had written in :)
Mike,
I just 'added' them to the list it is easier as they don't have to reply.
regards,
Jon.

so - any chance of weekend meetings? I can't make wednesday nights due to family commitments.
BTW - as vice Chair of the 2006 SWANCON conventin, the club is hereby invited to put on a demo, recuit embers, press gang civilians and otherwise have fun at SWANCON next year.
problem with Tuesdays Mike is that there is no food and all the rooms are taken - Choir in the house, Pilate in the Eidelweiss lounge and Shooters in the long room
Mondays the Rd is not open, thursdays is late night shopping so guys don't want to turn up for brownie points reasons and Friday - well thats friday night out
So I wouldn't hold your breath about moving the club to another night just yet - even if we swopped with the Pilates/Gym group there is still no food and the Rd are having probs getting a chef for the night
Good to hear from you, I personally would like to shift from tyhe Wed night, also I think that Sundays may be better from Weekend gaming than Saturday, I work sometimes on a Saturday morning and in summer will play cricket most a'noons during summer.
I'll see if we can get a War of the Roses minicampaign going in the near future.
Cheers Mike

yes we shall be organising week-end games however we shall need to know numbers so that we can go to the German club and hopefully get a room as a freebee. otherwise we shall need to pay $40 per day for the small house (approx 6 tables) or the shooting room at $60 per day (about the same size as the vic league room we used while we were at thw NWS
The German club tends to have a series of functions at the week-ends and we shall have to dove tail with them.
There are a few guys at the club that are keen on a weekend game on a regular basis - say once per month - so it will happen , its just a matter of organising it and timing/dovetailing with RD (Rhine-Donau) club.
Are there any guys that you know that would be interested apart from yourself that you could press-gang for a sunday game?
There will be a bar there on sundays but at this stage no food available - however the germans are forward thinking and if we can get sufficient numbers - I am sure that we could do a deal with them for putting on food as this is where they make most 0f their money (they use volunteers) and are keen on the place being fully used - quite refreshing outlook really
Look forward to catching up with you on a week end in the hopefully near future
Regards
Dave Elson
PS - what type of games are you looking for - DBM, Napoleonics, etc
PPS - Paul if you have any ideas for the club don't be afraid to put them forward - even if they sound a bit off the mark - because we are open to all input and innovations
PPS - shame we were not aware of Swancon prior to it happening cos thaere would have been a couple of us there to see what was going on and to see if we could get some recruits - Does andrew and Sue Poli still go??
so - any chance of weekend meetings? I can't make wednesday nights due to family commitments.

Just to let you all know that there is a new wargames club in Perth,
Perth Miniatures Gamers Group
Currently the group meet each Wednesday night from 5.30pm onwards at the Rhine-Donau club on North Lake Rd Melville.
Members game in most tabletop wargaming genres including but not restricted to Ancients, Renaissance, Napoleonics, Colonial, ECW, ACW, WW2, Science Fiction and Fantasy. Currently there seems to be an emphasis on DBx.
There is a Yahoo discussion group PerthMiniatureGamers, easily found by searching Yahoo groups under that name, new members and visitors (local, interstate or overseas) welcome.

I can't find it either in a search - I have sent an email to the yahoo groups customer care centre asking why I can't find it - no reply as yet
Mike have you tried comparing the group settings on the NWS site with the new site?
I can only find the nws site because I know its "napoleonicWGS" when I do a group search
What about changing the name to "Perth Miniatrures Gamers Group" as opposed to "perthminiaturesgamers" as we then maybe able to pick it up by searching "Perth+Miniatures+Gamers"

Mike,
List it in the Yahoo directory, I had a fiddle and I think it is listed
now. Not very intuitive this stuff is it?
I will try to shrink Miffy a bit and post her onto the description.

Jon.

hi de ho neighbours,
I have uploaded what I think are the relevant files into the 'Files'
section; Constitution, minutes x3 , Miffy Mk XXXII, Application to
join. I have left out the two 'huge' posters, and Pete's draft
business cards. Anything else you want in there?
cya,
Jon.
p.s. 'great one' the Greeks wrote in Capitals only on stone, it's hard
to do running writing with a chisel, manuscripts were written in
'miniscule' without punctuation and originally 'as the ox plows' left
to right and right to left on the next line. (gave us left handers an
