Parisian Chronicle En Garde began 1 January 2000. The game started 1
janvier 1600 under Henri IV. It ran for approximately 18 months real-
time, 11 months game time. The thought was to run the game with game
months changing every 15 days. I failed at that idea as that would
have meant about 3 years game time passing in those 18 months. The
idea was also to become the largest game on the internet. This too
failed as 40 players became too much for me to handle. I had hoped
to automate much of the game-play. I wanted to make website order
entry possible, automate the character sheets, automate conflict
resolution and duels. But, I am no programmer.

Life events also became an issue. My wife and I both changed jobs,
we had some health issues (my wife has MS), and we had some
relationship issues. The latter has thankfully settled itself out
and we are again happily married.

Since Jan 2000, we have changed states twice, bought a house, and
still not had any children (which I would dearly love to have). Life
is a really strange creature.

I have noticed in many games on the net, ideas that I created for En
Garde (and never credited back to me). This is disappointing, but I
let it go each time. Most of the games have ceased to exist anyway.
Putting my ideas on the internet doesn't make it public domain. I
have always credited any idea I have used and asked permission
first. But that's my own personal soapbox.

In the past five years many things have changed in my life. One of
which is that I have a great deal more time even though my life is
still hectic. My interest in En Garde continues and I have tried
playing in a few games here and there, but unfortunatley they dwindle
and pass over time. Some, life has interfered and I have found it
necessary to drop out. However, my interest has never waned.

As such, I am considering beginning again with Parisian Chronicle En
Garde! I am intending on paring down my house rules again to
something more basic. That doesn't mean that I won't add more
content in later, just not at this point in time and not in the
intended foreseeable future. I believe I shall start with 10 to
start with and add 5 each game month. Months would change about
every 20 days.

I need to obtain permission from Paul Evans, the current owner of En
Garde! and I need to change my website accordingly. But I figure a
May start should be manageable. I want to give those that were there
with me at the beginning a chance to be first to join if they were so
inclined.

Ideas?
