Hello,
I just installed PCGScry on my iPAQ. When I try to start the program
I get an error message, that while running the program an "Invalid
Pathname"-error occured. Could this happen because of me running the
german version of Windows on my PocketPC? PCGScry is installed in the
german version of the programs directory named "Programme". When I
copy the installed PCGScry-directory to a newly created directory
named "programs", I get the same error message. An idea how I could
solve this issue.
Regards,
Carsten
Hello Carsten,
Try installing it under "Program Files".

I haven't seen anyone else mention that they've tried using PCGScry
on an O2 XDA so I thought I'd share my experiences.
I downloaded PCGScry after searching for a character viewer/generator
for PocketPC. It installed on the XDA without any problem but there
doesn't seem to be anyway of getting it to install on the SD Card
rather than main memory (which is a bit of an issue with the XDA).
This may require a proper installer rather than just the CAB file.
I wasn't a PCGen user before today so I've had to install that too
and generate a test character in that. It took me some time to get
the XML export working but eventually got a file to load onto the
handheld.
Unfortunately, I'm now at the stage of an error:
"An error was encountered while running this program: Type
mismatch: 'CInt'"
I get this message when I try to open my xml file on the handheld.
The only bits of data which seem to get read in are the basic stats -
the rest is missing so I assume the problem is something in the XML
file just after that. Anyway, it all looks very promising so I hope
there's a simple solution.
I'll keep playing (especially as I'm still getting to grips with
PCGen) and let you know if there's any progress.
Thanks
Sid
Hi Sid, thanks for the feedback.
The bug you are encountering is a known bug caused by changes in the
exported data from the latest version of PCGen. I will be making a fix for
PCGScry soon, and I'll announce it here on the Yahoo group.
Thanks again,

Just a quick update...
I managed to manually edit the XML file to replace those tokens which
hadn't been updated (most of the saving throw values) and the file
now loads without problem into PCGScry.
I'll look forward to the fix.
One more quick question - is it in your plan to temporarily update
things like AC on the basis of spells cast (eg: mage armor)? This is
always the thing I forget on my paper versions - doh!
Thanks

I keep receving an "CINT Error" when I try to open a charachter on
my PDA. I have installed PCGScry 1.3 ARM and am using the provided
XML template and PCGEN 4.0 on a IPAQ 3765. What am I doing wrong???
I have tried multiple re installs to no sucsess.
Frank
This is known bug - see previous message
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCGScry/message/62)
and response from Ross.
The fix in the short term until there is a PCGScry patch is to
manually edit the XML character file that's created by PCGen and
update the incorrect tag values. The wrong ones are in the <saving
throws> section I think.
Eg:
<total>REFLEX.TOTAL</total>
should be
<total>+4</total>
obviously the +4 should be whatever your reflex save total value is.
I hope that helps. If you're not confident to edit the XML file
you'll need to wait for the fix.

Hi Ross,
It's now October - any news on a new release? Any news on any
progress? Are you still working on this?
Has anyone converted the ToB, DoF, MoW etc spells to the xml format
needed for this system? If so where can I get them?
I am running this on my new Jornada 928 (runs ARM) and it's perfect
on there.
Cracking program! I really hope you are still working on it...!
Cheers
Blakey
So, how is this program coming along? I don't have an iPaq or other CE
device myself, but a friend has bought one and is looking for this sort of
program.
Thanks,
Brass
Hi Folks, I still very much intend to release an update to fix this bug. My
free time has been consumed by other matters lately, so my hobbies have
suffered. I'll try to get to this very soon though.

Hi all, version 1.3.1 is now available on the site for download. The URL is:
http://www.metacraft.com/PCGScry/
Changes in this release:
- Fixed minor bug with spell DC calculation.
- Fixed bug where notes windows would be partially covered by the user-
input area. The notes windows now shrink to accommodate the keyboard.
- Added XML template with revisions for PCGen version 3 or higher. This
fixes the Type mismatch: 'CInt' error. (Thanks to Kent Behrends for the
template update.)
Enjoy, and let me know if there are any problems!

Hi,
I installed this to my HP (installation was a breeze) and everything
seems to be ok. I exported the 'Code Monkey' character from pcGen
v4.1.1 using the export template I found in this group. I put the
exported xml file in the "Personal" folder in the "My Documents"
folder.
When i click the icon to run the application it seems to pause for
several seconds and then i ge the message "An error was encountered
while running this program: File Not Found".
Any help would be grateful as I have seen this app in action and
really like what I saw.
I am not sure how to attach files to this posting so if you want to
see the export template and the exported file that I am using I can
send them to a specified email.
Thanks, and keep up the good work.
I downloaded this one, but got an error "file missing" No file
identified.. runing IPAQ 3655. 1.3.0 runs fine.

To those of you getting this error, please re-download and re-install the
software. The first copy of the latest version that I put online was
missing the spell xml files. The new download should fix it. If it doesn't,
please let me know.
Thanks!

i am still getting the "File not found..." error using the latest
version of the installation. No other information is given other
than the error.

Okay, I figured out the problem. The installer is putting the spell XML
files in the \windows folder on the device. I'll see if I can figure out
why it's doing that and upload a new installer. In the meantime, you can
manually move all the srdspells*.xml files from your \windows folder to
your \program files\pcgscry folder, and it should work.
I'll drop a note here when the new installer is ready.

When I click on any of the download links at the site, I'm taken to a

Works wonderfull on the 568. Perhaps a little slow at times but hey,
it does what i need it to. the only issue is the AC info in the
export. But it looks like it is a flaw in the version of PCGen that i
am using. 4.1.6. Anyway, keep up the good work
Hello, great program you have made really. Very Usefull. I was
wondering if you where looking for help, or if you werent, if you
would be interested.
Im new to Pocket PC programing but im a fast learning :). It could
speed things up a little.

more the merrier!!! someone sign him up!!
Hiya ... thanks for the offer. At this time I'm not really devoting enough
effort to the PCGScry project to warrant creating a development group
really. Basically I'm just fixing bugs in the current version and adding
new features if enough people ask for them, or if I need them myself.
Did you have anything in mind that you wanted to work on?

hmmm ;)
1. +/- AC (ie: when sorcerer casts mage armor, etc...)
2. Editor (or procedure) to add spell info
3. Editor (or procedure) to add feat info
4. Notes from .pcg file
5. Quick toggle for familiar sheet
6. Some way to view the SPROP of armor (field too short now)
7. AC for: Flatfoot and Touch
---kent-(-
Hi:
To display the correct AC with PCGen 4.2.4, the <ac> section in
csheet_pcgscry3.xml needs to be replaced with:
<ac>
<total>|BONUS.COMBAT.AC.TOTAL|</total>
<base>|BONUS.COMBAT.AC.BASE|</base>
<armor>|BONUS.COMBAT.AC.Armor|</armor>
<shield>|BONUS.COMBAT.AC.SHIELD|</shield>

K no problem. I didnt have anything in mind really but its a nice
proyect and maybe u need help. Rememberme if u need some later.
By the way I've had some trouble installing pcscry in a pocket pc
2002, it sais something like this when i try to install it:
Aplication error:
An error has been found while excecuting this program: Invalid
Pathname.
My system is in spanish so i think it might be something related to
that. Is the program assuming stuff like path names? Should it be
runned form a specific place? Has anybody had a similar problem?
thanks :)
