Hi,
  thanks for the installer.
I've come upt to following problem - but i found a solution!

I'm using a Loox 720 with Windows 2003 SE german Edition.
The german edition uses Programme instead of Program Files.
It seems that there is a hardcoded path in the application that
prevents its start. But copieing it to another folder helped.

I generated an xml output with pcgen 5.7.13 with 35e ruleset.
Sadly it didn't load at all on PDA.

I'll upload it into the FIles section.

BTW i have some more questions / suggestions

- When do you want to move to sourceforge? It is much mor usefull for
versioning and packaging
- Could you move old files to an old folder?

Cheers

   Thorsten

Hello again,
it would be easier to make generated charactersheet work, if we would
have a working example charactersheet.
  Could you please provide one?

Also is it possible to have a debugging version of pcgscry that writes
debugging comments into a text file?

This is one of the things that would be cool to include, I agree. When the
PCGScry project is picked up by PCGen, development will begin again. That
is one of the things I hope can be included, but until then this project is
static, and not under development.

So just out of curiosity what types of handhelds will this program work
with. I have a Tungssten E and don't want to download something if it

Is there an expected timeline for when PCGScry will be picked up by
PCGEN? I would like to use this with my Dell Axim, but I don't know
if it will run with that device and OS version.

Does anyone know if it will run on an Axim that runs Windows Mobile
2003, 2nd ed? Like a previous post, I would like to download a
version that will work with my PDA.

Thanks.

PCGenView has not been updated in quite some time, I am not currently aware
of the status of the PCGen merge, but I will ask. The main problem I think
was finding someone who was familiar enough with eVB to take over this
project.
The best bet is to download the installer, connect your PDA, and give it a
shot. It runs on my Axim X5, but I am running 2k2. I believe that it works
on 2k3 though.

work with PCGen 5.8.0, but I trimmed out all the extra crap it was

Nope, haven't even seen that one.  I fixed up one off of the original authors website.

I just asked because I saw some note on these forums about large XML files being a problem, and the output sheet on the original site created a lot of empty nodes in the XML that it didn't need to so I fixed it so that it doesn't do that any more.

Really? It sure didn't work in 5.8.0 for me. I tried it and the
spell listing was totally hosed (my Cleric showed no spells at all,
nor did any other spellcaster when I tested them to see if it was just
my cleric).

So, I fixed it. :)

The issue was that the spellcasting section was using "-1" to point to
the known spell list and that was deprecated long ago. It needed to
be "0".

I also took the opportuinty to change some of the loops from a
hardcoded/set number to be dynamic by using the COUNT token. That got
rid of a lot of the extraneous empty nodes that were being generated.

Anyway, I uploaded "csheet_pcgscry580.zip" to the files area. Give it
a whirl and if there are issues let me know. Output Sheets are
somewhat my specialty dontcha know. :)

Hehe...

I can tell you came along after my activity with the PCGen group as an "authoritah figure" subsided somewhat.  I used to be the OS SB.  :)
So yes, you are more than welcome to include the updated output sheet I uploaded in a new installer.

If people find something broken (with the sheet that is), feel free to point them my way or have them post to the list and I'll see what I can do about it.

I'm really hoping you can get someone interested in the program again (as a programmer) as I think it's great already and has a lot of potential.

I have successfully loaded this fine program on my Compaq iPaq 6325.
When I export my character using wither Barak's New XML sheet, or the

Maybe a silly question here, and maybe not...

Did you hit the open button and select the character after the program started???

I've had it hang on trying to load the character when something was wrong, but it's never come up blank...

Yes, I used the open button to load the xml sheet from the - the
program seems to respond ie, screen flickers for a sec - and I can
navigate through the tabs, but there's no data. I also tried d/ling
and opening the "Sabine" and "Hoshi" characters from the files section
of this group - same problem.

I am trying to run this program on my Windows 2003 Axim, and I get the
following error:

The application you have launched requires Microsoft eMbedded Visual
Basic Runtime to be installed.

I have downloaded file that is supposed to be the runtime environment,
but I don't see how to get it installed and running.

Can anyone help out? I would like to use this program, but it seems
my handheld does not have the required environemtn.

A note: eVB has been dropped in favor of mobile .NET according to the
Microsoft website...

E-mail me your XML file (the one you get after export) and I'll see if
I can see anything wrong in it.

What type of file is it that you downloaded?

If it's an MSI, or EXE, just run it on your desktop with your device
cradled, and it *should* install the runtime to your device.

If it's a zipped CAB file, unzip it and copy the CAB file to an
appropriately located and named directory on your device. Then execute
the CAB file on your Axim, usually just by tapping it once.

Well, "dropped" is probably a strong word, but they definitely recommend
using .NET.

Sorry Brad, this has been a little frustrating. I downloaded this
file: msvbppc.armv4.cab

It appears to be a zip file. So I should do the following?
1. Unzip it on my PC and export the files to the PCScry folder there.
2. Copy the file to the Axim, in the PCScry folder.
3. Click on the file.

Correct?

Sorry, but I want to make sure that its set up correctly.
