Re: [OnlineGameDay] Re: OpenRPG vs. MapTool

The problem I ran into with hosting a meeting-point server in MapTools is the server can't be up some amount of time between 6 hours and 24.  After that, you just can't connect to it, no matter what you do.  So, you'd have to have people hand-off the server, or reboot it, continuously.

I told the RPTools staff about our discussion, and they said they're
working on it. Basically, they don't have the resources to host a
central meeting point in MapTool right now, since they're too busy
working on getting a stable 1.3 release.

In the meantime, I'm trying to organize some volunteers to host
something similar to the OpenRPG Blackstar server on their free time.

Oh, by the way... There are video tutorials on the website that
answer a lot of questions from new players. Those videos should help
you with your problems.

I don't mean to sound like a MapTool fanboy, but why are most players here still using OpenRPG? It's unstable, unintuitive, poorly documented, and lacks a lot...

OpenRPG works great for me. I have plenty of macros written. I never crash. It's all good. --Gordon From: OnlineGameDay@yahoogroups.com...

Actually, I find MapTool unintuitive, but to each their own. OpenRPG has macros, and it's gametree system is better in my opinion than MapTools. Maptools does...
