Hm, sounds fun. I'll have to write something up IC for Kalli at least,
I know what she's been doing. Aramilanas became a Horizon Walker, so
who knows what kinds of stuff she's done out wandering Oerth.

Most of us have at least an idea of what we foresaw our characters
doing and what their futures may have been, I think John Jenks even
once posted a short vignette that was a possible future for Deblin.

aka, once upon a time:
Kallista Merbrook, Halfling Rogue/Cleric/Holy Liberator, His Majesty's
Secret Service/Grey Watch Agent
Aramilanas Wildwanderer, Wood Elf Barbarian/Ranger/Horizon Walker

OOC: For anyone who still cares at all about the rich, fascinating stories we
all helped to shape from 2000 to 2005, and the end of the War of Succession, I
encourage you to post something here to let us know what your big gun
character(s) is(are) doing 4 years later, and what their future shall be.

For any of you who took part in the truly awe-inspiring, legendary Tri-Active
event, it would be especially nice to know what your characters did in the
following years to deal with the poisons and damage left behind by an Era of
Darkness.

"Well, I am not a priest of Lydia, tho I swear by Her. She is a
lover of the spread of knowledge and of song, so many of the songs
she prefers are instructional. I found this song
quite "educational"."

The accent on the last word is soon explained as the song provides
a great deal of detail about the female body, and how it may be given
pleasure. Technically the song can claim to be dry and clinical, but
only a determined performer can sing it without being lewd, and
Tainth is not at all determined. His judgement that it sounds better
that way is a little hard to dispute [perform check of 22]. As he
finishes, Tainth remarks "The priestess who taught me that said I
learned a lot from it."

"Where are our food and drink!"

From the back of the inn the innkeeper yells "Keep your shirt on its commin'
right out you....." and his curse trails off into silence. The innkeeper is no
fool when it comes to insulting the half-orcs he knows full well that while they
might be a little slow, they are fast when it comes to drawing steel and making
short notice of him and his inn if the need arises, not to mention that huge
hammer thing that he brought in!

"Now friend tell me a song or a story of your faith I am always interested in
the other faiths and their beliefs". Galeron asks of Tainth.

"Your story is much like mine."

The speaker is a tall, somewhat skinny, young male Oeridian wizard
of little experience, and several drinks. This last is to be blamed
on the rumor sweeping the city of of a "zone of innocence" discovered
in the Greyhawk ruins. Just what that actually meant varies with the
speaker, but many of the young and ambitious deem it to mean they
have a chance to get rich. And of course, they do not feel it is
necessary to actually get these riches before spending them, nor to
deny their new-found friends, their life story.

"Like you, I had adventuring parents who never came back from an
adventure. From what I am told, their biggest success led to their
great disaster. They managed to rescue one of the great men of the
City, and as a reward, he included them in an expedition that could
have set them up for life.
"Nobody knows just what went wrong. The few survivors came back
much later babbling about a great fire, but too confused to say what
role it played, much less if my parents perished in it. But that was
the last anybody heard of them, all too long ago.
"And like you, I discovered the life of the orphan can be harsh.
I did have a roof over my head, but I and my siblings became slaves
as a result.
"I know. I know. There are no slaves in the city. Suffice it to
say, there are loopholes in that law, at least when one's so-called
guardian is a powerful wizardess with connections to the powerful,
and one is an orphan without 2 copper to rub together. I talk with
those who claim to know the law, and they say I will need to pay a so-
called "debt" to her if I am to get free.
"She has not been a kind mistress. I grant her that she did
encourage me to study hard at magic, in order to be a more useful
slave of course, but this brand on my foot came from her orders.
"This rumor may be the only way I can free myself, and my brother
and sister. I will be investigating it as soon as I can."

"Tainth Photusduty, from the Pale. I'm a bard-marshall, of no
great skill, but I have had my triumphs. My tale has its points of
interest, and like any bard, I am happy to share it." And like any
bard, he quickly starts to do so when his companion fails to express
total rejection of the idea.

"Mother is the bravest woman in the Pale, a point widely
acknowledged. In any battle, she is the first to reach the enemy and
the last to flee. This last can be something of a problem if one
fights equal or superior forces, which Mother often has. Suffice it
to say that in several unsuccessful battles, she ended up at the
mercy of those who had no reason to be merciful to her. And each
time she has eventually returned home with me, or one of my half-
brothers or sisters. She has, of course, been quite tightlipped
about the details of what happened, tho I like to think my own case
was consensual to some degree, which it likely was, compared to that
of Elvira, my half-orc sister, at least.
"A lovely girl, or so I understand. As her brother, I am not the
best of judges, and my elven blood has problems considering
fangs "cute". Still, those who should know would seem to say you
would find her quite attractive."

The half-elf pauses to take a drink. "Now, where was I?"

Arda leaned back against the warm comfort of the crooked chimney and
adjusted his position slightly, finding a more comfortable position
sitting on the blue baked clay roof tiles of one of the northern
cornices of old Lord Ren's Hold. This was one of his favorite places
to come and think in the entire city… not only did it offer an
impressive view, the old hold being a tall castle sitting on top of a
promontory in the Artisans quarters, but being home to the premier art
gallery in the Flanaess it was always a challenge to sneak up to the
roof.

Not that Arda would ever steal from the Gallery. True, some daring
and skilled rogues had managed to break into the Gallery proper and
make off with some treasure, but the legendary mage Otto was one of
the hall's patrons and had a habit of tracking down and recovering any
missing objects of art and making the thief regret the inconvenience
they had put him to. Plus doing a job that big would certainly bring
him to the attention of the Thieves guild who were not known for their
tolerance of freelancers like himself. No, he just loved coming up
here for the solitude and view.

Wrapping his mottled grayish green cloak tighter around his slender
form to ward off the chilly evening, late autumn air he pulled out a
honey cake he'd pilfered late this evening afternoon nibbled at the
corner. The slanting roofs, gables, and turrets of the Guildhall of
the Performing arts (for when Lord Ren died he bequest his castle to
that organization) blocked Arda's view south towards Clerksburg and
the Northern tower prevented his seeing parts of City Arena, some of
the temples of the Gardens, and the Grand Citadel itself.

Looking west, to his left he could watch the barges and riverships ply
the Selintan, which looked in parts like a ribbon of silver in the
light of the setting sun. Down in the city was the Petite Market,
still bustling with shoppers, merchants, adventures, and thieves.
Slowly looking north Arda looked over the chaos that was the City of
Greyhawk, hundreds of buildings within its walls, all of different
sizes and styles. Arda exhaled softly and contently, his breath
turning to brief fog in the rapidly chilling air. He wasn't a lord or
even anyone important, but this was his city, he knew its rooftops,
alleys, and sewers. He knew he didn't know even a fraction of
secrets, and that she'd kill him in a heartbeat if he didn't live by
her rules, but he loved her just the same.

His roving eyes came to the classical gray granite architecture of
Grey College and the tall three-sided pyramid of the University of
Magical Arts and he momentarily stopped chewing his honeycake as a
flash of jealousy and longing raced through him. If only he could
have attended one or both of those famous schools. He knew, he knew
deep within his soul that he could be more than he was except that his
status, his social standing, had always barred his way. After the
initial, brief moment the feeling rapidly past, it was a familiar ache
and easily suppressed now. Arda knew better than to linger on it, it
did no more good than constantly worrying an aching tooth.

His lifted his gaze slightly to the grand buildings and homes High and
Garden quarters and felt… well he didn't quite know how he felt… a
vague emptiness? He had been to those parts of the city before but
found them cold, soulless, and unwelcoming. The city's elite in their
manors had private guards that made sure that an urchin made as
unwelcome as possible. The grand temples along High street were
equally unwelcoming to one without money to donate. Arda didn't have
much truk with the gods and knew they didn't have much concern for him
either. The only temple he didn't feel completely uncomfortable in
was the temple of Boccob, who at least didn't give the false pretense
of caring about mortals.

Finally, slowly, he lifted violet colored eyes further up, over the
city walls, and north, where in the distance three ruined towers
jutted above the forested rolling hills. Castle Greyhawk. His father
and mother were both adventures and had explored deep into the famous
castle of Zagig Yragerne. Four times they went in with their band of
fellow adventures, returning with gold, magic, and fabulous stories
that would keep Arda awake at nights in wonder and awe. Life was
wonderful, and comfortable with loving, daring parents living lives of
legends. A fifth time his parents and their friends plumbed the deeps
of the magical fortress, and this last time they never returned or
were heard from again.

His parents' friends, hurt, confused, and swallowed by their own grief
missed the suffering of the Quendi's only child. His tutor, a
talented and intelligent old man disappeared at the same time (Arda
had later discovered that this was just the gods mocking him, the
kindly man had been killed in a mugging with nothing to do with his
parent's overdue return). Corrupt city bureaucrats were quick to
seize his family's modest home, leaving Arda orphaned, desperate and
alone on the streets. Arda suffered but survived, his quick wit and
natural charm gaining him a home among one of Greyhawk's pack of
urchins and a small circle of mentors and friends that taught him to
survive in the shadows of the towers of the city known as the Gem of
the Flanaess.

Arda huddled further into the warmth of the chimney and watched the
towers of Zagig's Castle, the building that had claimed his parents
and his future, as it faded into the deepening twilight, slowly
replaced by a sky filled with the glimmering of cold uncaring stars.
When his parents disappeared eight decades ago he was barely more than
an infant, a long time even for the elf that had now grown into a
young man. Watching the darkness were his parents had disappeared
from his life Arda once more dreamed of following them, finding what
had become of them. He dreamed and slowly drowsed into a wary sleep.

"Care to join my table, good fellow?"

The speaker addressing Galeron is a young male half elf, the human
half apparently being pure Suel, as is shown by his fair complexion,
blond hair, and pale blue eyes. He wears a chain shirt, with a large
wood shield nearby, and carries his masterwork mandolin.

"My name is Tainth Photusduty, from the Pale. Your's is ?" the
friendly fellow continues.

Bandric stood at the bow of his ship. It has been months since he
touched foot on Nyrond's soil. The clouds danced with color as the sun
began to set in the horizon. He wondered if it was such a good idea to
buy a boat and sail the high seas.

"I haven't seen my friends in months, any of them." He thought to
himself. Sail was fun but not as exciting as adventuring...and saving
the world. "I should really head for home and see if any of my friends
need me."

He turned to the helm and called out his orders. "Aye, Aye, Sir"
responded the helmsman. The crashing waves sounded below as the
horizon moved sideways.

A sailor approached Bandric. "Sir, is there anything I can get you?"

"No. Nothing. We've sail from secluded harbor of Sasserine, up the
coast to Greyhawk and Dyvers, south again through Onnwal to Lenore and
the Sea Barons, finally turning around at Ratik. We're barely breaking
even with trade and land excursions."

"Aye, sir" the sailor said shaking his head, "I'd be more profitable
to be a pirate. Not that I'm suggesting that."

Bandric straightened up, "Unless you steal from pirates..."

His eyes adjusted to the new darkness, his darkvision allowing him to
see in the dark. "Lets make haste to Rel Mord."

The group ownership and moderation is well in hand. It belongs to
the Nyrond triad, and I help as I can.

However, it's not the triads', owners' or moderators' job to create
activity here. If you want an active group, make in-character posts
that people want to respond to in an in-character fashion. The group
is here to meet demand, but there just doesn't seem to be much.

"No! That is not what happened at all! It is all distorted!"

Most of the crowd pays little attention to Lahrneh's protests. Not
that they believe the rumors either. Still, when one has the name
Lahrneh ["no-name" in elven], one should expect the listener to suspect
the worst. And the rumors do suggest something suspicious had happened
during his most recent adventure...

A bit odd that Lahrneh is so interested in honor and what people
think. But elves are strange anyway.

As you slumber a cool breeze passes over you disturbing your
blankets. Waking briefly, a bit chilly, you turn over and pull the
blankets tightly around your chin. As you fall back into that
peacful slumber of killing goblins and ogres a two figures appear in
the distance. If you were to guess you'd say they're about a
quarter mile away. In an instance they disapear and are suddenly
flying about the fray. With a single utterance the smaller of the
two unleashes rays of blinding color. As your vison clears, you
notice with astonishment that the field is empty, save for you and
the two mysterious figures. They fly down and land before you. It
seems to be a male dwarf and female gnome. The gnome stares
intently at you.

"good day," says the gnome, "I'm sorry to have ruined your fun." At
this she smiles. "It seems the travels of my conpainion and I will
soon bring us through your lands. We figured why not stop in and
sample the local culture."

"I am Kevin, of the Teal Nation" the dwarf says in a rough
voice. "My companion here is Clink of the Sidhee nation. As she
said, we'll soon be in your lands"

Again the Gnome chimes in, "If you have need of assistance with
anything we'd be glad to help, or if it is an outing unworthy of us,
we can send some of our clan brothers. Alright, thanks for
listening, I'll give you back your toys now"

With a gesture the field is once more filled with ogres and goblins,
and the mysterious pair is gone.

As the new year is celebrated, the erratic mage meek the
MAGNIFICENT gives his view of the past year.

"THIS YEAR HAS SEEN GREAT SUCCESS FOR ME.
tho i remain a minor mageling.
BUT SOON I SHALL BE A MAGE OF NOTE.
if i work hard and am lucky."

"THE YEAR STARTED WITH MY FINDING THAT THE KING WAS GRATEFUL FOR
MY SERVICES IN RESTORING HIM TO THE THRONE [NYR 5-01].
but there were a few small consequences of the war that needed to be
dealt with to,
SOME OF WHICH WERE FAIRLY MAJOR.
i did a bit of travel, starting with a visit to the County.
BUT MOST OF MY TIME WAS SPENT IN GREYHAWK OR THE BRIGHT DESERT.
some of the mages of Greyhawk were kind enough to aid me for my
services for them.
IN THE BRIGHT DESERT, I WAS CENTRAL IN THE RECOVERY OF VITAL
RESOURCES, IN A MANNER THAT WAS MOST INSTRUCTIVE AND DANGEROUS.
i had many highly talented companions.
BUT I WAS THE ONE WHO TOOK THE RISK."

" my business in magic crafting has but a small start.
BUT SALES THIS YEAR SHOULD EXCEED 10,000 GOLD.
may the next year be as prosperous.
I SHALL MAKE IT MORE SO."

"A toast to the generous hero of the hour" Having bought a score
of rounds over the last few years, and buying the current one,
Lahrneh's idea is quickly approved by all in the tavern.

"We honor meek the Magnificent, one of Nyrond's upcoming mages,
for his success in rescuing the party cleric during a recent
adventure at a notable cost to himself."

After a round of applause [and a longer round of drinking], the
honoree, a bizarre figure, who has already used his Hat of Disguise
3 times already this evening, responds "i am honored beyond my
deserts. I Shall Be Able To Replace My Loss From My Own Efforts!"
"but it was simply something that needed to be done. And I Of
Course Had The Ability To Do It! our cleric had, perhaps a tad
unwisely, left herself open to attack by a powerful foe and we
suddenly realized she was but a second from death or worse. But I
Had Gained The Power To Slow Time During My Adventures And Thus Used
That Power. that gave me the time to cast several defensive spells
on the cleric, a trivial help, but it proved enough. Once The
Cleric Was Safe, It Was No Great Problem to Defeat The Foe!"

"but i am here in the hopes i can serve your needs. I Have A
Vast Selection of Magic For Sale, Which You May Examine At Your
Convenience At My Store!..."

The sales pitch gets less attention, but nobody leaves before
the drinks are finished.

For a wonder a bard is buying the drinks instead of accepting
those of others. Perhaps astonishment explains why there is only
the normal size crowd taking advantage of the free drinks. And the
knowledge that free can be very expensive...

Not this time apparently. The half-elf explains "I am called
Tainth Pholtusduty, and as my names implies, I was born in the
Pale. I must say I find it much better here in the South.
"However my problem involves one of the reasons I find things
better here. During a recent journey to your Western border, I met
one Ceda Llallnendy, a paladin of Mayaneine. She and I fit quite
well together during our adventure.
"Sadly that opinion was not shared by her brother. At one point,
he showed his displeasure with my suit by tossing me in the river.
He was nice enough to allow me a rope so I merely had my bath a bit
out of schedule, but he has been a roadblock in the road of romance.
"I can not be sure of course, but it seems he also managed to
spirit her out of town during the celebrations of our success and I
have not been able to track her down since. The temple of Mayaneine
can't tell me her location and I am desolate with lonliness.
"So can any of you give me an idea where she has gone? She is a
flan lass of 5'9"...."

With new management, the shop had also gotten a fresh coat of
paint. Well, half of it had anyway. It had also gotten a new sign,
which reads "meek's MAGNIFICENT MAGIC", a rather optimistic claim
given the presence of several other magic shops in the area around
the university.

The new proprietor, meek the MAGNIFICENT, stands in front,
admiring his new business. His first permanent magic creation, a
hat of disguise, is being put to heavy use as he changes his image
nearly every minute. As he frequently does, he is talking, perhaps
arguing, to himself..

The cliche elderly wizard enthuses "WONDERFUL. ANOTHER STEP UP
IN MY PATH TO THE TOP!"

The elf archer continues "but small businesses fail often."

The knight in shinning plate counters "BUT I HAVE TALENT AND
DEDICATION. HOW CAN I FAIL?"

The halfling rogue considers "i still know how to make only a few
magic items, and i lack the equipment to create potions. really, i
can do little beyond scribing scrolls, of low power."

The royal figure announces "MY MASTER WILL BE OF ASSISTANCE
HERE! I WILL SEND ORDERS FOR POTIONS AND GREATER ITEMS TO HIM, FOR
A CUT! STILL, I MAY WANT TO HIRE SOMEONE TO MAKE POTIONS!"

The humble cleric notes "i suppose he will want the title of

A tall noblewoman finishes the conversation with "WELL, IN ANY
CASE THERE IS MAGIC TO MAKE AND CUSTOMERS TO SATISFY! TO WORK!"

They left in 11 of '04 so I will have to read the war journals and

Dont assume that just because other regions are narrow enuf to only
allow interactions to take place in one location we operate the same
way, Joey. Go back and read the War Journals that were posted back
in Jan/Feb of 2005 dealing with the CoupD'Etat by Sewardnt.... they
took place wherever but were definitely IC.

Most folks on this list decide that they happen to bump into each
other in generic tavern A in location B at date C.

No hard and fast rules about that here.

Enjoy!

....A murmuring spreads through the streets of Mowbrenn as the
citizenry notice the well-known figure of Bishop Solarion of Pelor
riding his horse through the lower mound again....

"Eh, Bihl, theres that kind friendly priest again. Where the 'eck
has 'e been for the last 5 months anyway? Even adventurers dont
usually vanish for that long at one time!"

"Well, Svarnik, I've no idea, mate. But I bet if we visit that
temple he runs here in town we can find out.. I have missed the
joker though. That replacement they sent from Hendrenn didnt have
his sense of humor, thats for sure!"

OOC: Voraneh Solarion, Radiant Exorcist of Pelor, has returned to
the present day of Oerth after having been stranded in the distant
past(approximately 1500-2000 years ago). He has returned to pick up
his charge as Bishop of Mowbrenn after having visited both High
Priest Kirdric and His Majesty King Lynwerd in Rel Mord to share
with them his experiences in the past.. which gave him the
opportunity to visit incognito many legendary places: The Ykrathian
Empire of Vecna, The Baklunish Caliphate, and the indescribably evil
Suel Imperium, while traversing the continent by means of his
WindWalk spell. He even spent time among the early Oeridian tribes,
before their exodus and rise to greatness. By the grace of The
Shining One he at last found the means to return to the present
while wandering near the present day lands of Nyrond.. though back
then there were only scattered flannae tribes and many elves present.

Princess Astra was fascinated by his descriptions of people and
places he encountered and had scribes from the Wizards Guild and
University summoned to take down his tales to add the unimpeachable
words of a mighty priest of Pelor to the previously sketchy details
of such long-ago times.
