Well I apologise to any of those of English birth who took offence to
the comment – it was made ‘in jest’ (to emphasise that Danny’s
suggestion you come over for the RWC would encompass being in NZ for
6+ months) and hence the ;-p (winking tongue-poking) smiley to
indicate such.

FWIW I am particularly proud of my Irish, Scottish, AND ENGLISH
ancestry, and have several ‘English’ friends, etc, etc…

On behalf of the WIC bid team, could we please leave out the purile racial
stereotyping?
This WIC will be measured as a success by the travelling players coming to NZ
and having a great time both on the table and socially with the domestic
players. We don't need any of that '60's/70's "whining Pom" s**t.
Be aware that several of the most likely travellers also lurk on this and other
lists.

It was at Lichfield Street about 1991-92 about the time Wooten left - I can
remember seeing it somewhere as that's when I started going to the club
regularly after previously only going once a month or every 2 months - I
think it was still there when I took over as Secretary in 1993/94 although
looking pretty ratty... Can't remember what happened with it when we moved
to Cashel Street Chambers in mid-94 (or if we still had it by that stage)...

Someone like Mark Ottley who was on the committee with me might remember?

Of course I 'recognise' him (well the face anyway) - but buggered if I
could remember who he was - I wasn't at the CWS in the early/mid-80's
so couldn't tell you the names of the personalities! ( FWIW I joined
in 78/79 when I was about 13 for 6-12 months but didn't really enjoy
it and couldn't afford the subs - plus it was a fair push-bike ride to
Jeffreys/Clyde (or was it Idris) Road from where I lived - so I left,
only rejoined _after_ that convention in '87 after a few casual visits
to the club over the following year or so...

You don't recognise Dave Merry??

The other guy was Shane Winchester I think?

I bought an old 50cc motorbike from him around then that I only got rid of a
couple of years ago having carted it around the country in case my kids ever
wanted to get mechanical!

If I recall correctly that Japs in Burma WW2 game mentioned had near wall to
wall Chi-Ha's in the village and a horde of M3 Stuarts & M3 Lees on the
other side of the paddy fields - which were quite well done for their day
(first time I saw transparent plastic (cut up shirt box lids) used to
represent water I think......

Hi everyone,

CityGuard will be hosting our first official Bring and Buy event in November
on Sunday 22nd. This is where everyone can come along, bring out all their
random
miniatures/games/bits and pieces they wont ever need and try and flog them
off/swap them/trade them/just show them off.

We will set up some tables just for this, probably down the end of the hall
where I usually have the snacks. I'll bring along some post it notes and
pens, you write little notes on your stuff, like who is the seller, and how
much you want for it... and leave your goodies displayed on the table...

Then people come along, look at all the awesome goodies on the tables, ask
me who (insert name) is, I point you out to them and you sell/swap/trade
your stuff...

I've had so much fun coming along to AWC ones I figured I'd try one at
CityGuard.

Some changes from my first post a while back. We are open longer, until
7pm...

The 40K folks are organising a special 500pts 40K in 40mins event. The
Fantasy folks are organising a special 500pts baby league event. The
Warmachine folk are organising a special 15pt event. All these are mentioned
in the CityGuard Forums here
http://www.cityguard.co.nz/forum/index.php/board,2.0.html

Anyone wanting to organise a game of some sort or to join up with the
special events, it's just $3 to play for the afternoon regardless of whether
you are a member or not... just for 1 day only :)

We will be running a BBQ around 5:30pm with sausages for sale. You can BYO
BBQ food if you want to cook your own. We will have some drinks and snacks
available for sale as well. We are classing this as our end of year sort of
event, so come along to catch up with folks.

You are all welcome to come and visit. CityGuard meets in the Freeman's Bay
Communiyt Hall, Hepburn Road, just down the road from Ponsonby road. We meet
from 1pm to 7pm, so anytime in between would be awesome.

Any questions?

Regards,
Karen

P.S. I will be available to take pre-registrations for BattleCry during the
event as well.

several loan armies will be available on request.

Armies will be composed of 24 army points. Players are not limited to army lists

Playing surfaces with pre-set terrain will be provided, but players are expected

Terrain

1. Games will be played on a 3'x3' playing area.
2. Attacker defender will be determined in the usual way. Terrain set-up is

fight for it!!!!

Prizes:
The tournament winner will receive the HotT 'Emperor Dragon' Trophy, and a small
prize pack.

Prizes will also be awarded for best-presented army, and most memorable game
