Comrades!
For entirely understandable work/life reasons, Newt Newport isn't able to
continue with his Tales of the Firebird fanzine project, but he had already
assembled some great material for it. Therefore, I will instead be taking that
on and adding to it some new material for the next Birchbark Chronicle
supplement, which will look at the north-west of the setting: mighty Novgorod,
Lithuania, the Baltic and the Hanseatic League and the northern Sibiryaks. There
may well be some extra detail on cultures such as the Estonians.
My aim is to get this done by the end of August, although as ever with hobbyish
sidelines like this, it may well be delayed by Real Life. What that does mean is
that there is some time if anyone out there would like to contribute material of
their own. This can be as extensive as a scenario or detailed cultural
exploration or at short as a story seed, NPC or new keyword. It has to fall
within the book's very broad theme, but it's generally easy enough to find some
hook to explain what, say, a Mongol artisan is doing in Lithuania...
If you are interested, drop me a line to let me know and discuss your ideas. It
would be great to have further contributions from others out there.
Finally, plans are also in the works to make the core Mythic Russia rulebook
available print-on-demand through Lulu. More anon, but again it should be
available before the summer is out.
All the best
Mark
