Eye of the Tiger
(Mage: The Ascension)
Vespazian was yapping. He was visibly spooked by the presence of the
agents.
"Listen, Harry, I don't care what you think you can do; when you see
a government agent you'll do what we all do - run!"
Even under best of circumstances Vespazian was at least slightly
annoying. This time, however, Damian had more pressing concerns. He
even omitted otherwise mandatory don't call me Harry line.
"You do that," said Damian in perfectly calm voice, which was
totally devoid of judgment. "I will distract them."
Vespazian reacted as expected. He quickly went towards the roof
exit, through which they had come just moments earlier, and was
about to dash back into the building when he cast one last glance at
Damian and what he thought would be his swift demise. What Vespazian
saw, however, could hardly be expressed by words.
Damian stood in the open, making no effort to hide, full of self-
confidence that somehow seemed founded, but Vespazian could not see
the source of such confidence. Against a backdrop of city lights
Damian's dark blue coat reminded Vespazian of renaissance kings'
robes. And then Vespazian saw them. Clad into their trademark ugly
suits and one even had sunglasses even though it was two after the
midnight, they were advancing on Damian. They looked like a pack of
hungry wolves in front of a lone stag. Instead of showing their bare
fangs, agents held their pistols ready and against them Daniel only
had his bare palm in a stopping gesture.
Now Vespazian could not see exactly what was happening, but he could
hear the shots bloody well and bullets hitting some sort of barrier.
When they stopped shooting Damian was still standing. The agent, one
in the middle, charged forward after packing his gun. Damian calmly
crossed his arms as a shield, or rather a sphere, in front of him
started to glow. The agent slammed his fist upon it and flash of
light sent Damian flying across the rooftop.
Vespazian made a grimace, but he couldn't utter an appropriate
curse. He dashed towards the agent and after a short leap slammed
his leg against the floor, or rather the top of the building. This
created a wave shaped as an arc that went across the floor towards
the agent. The agent took a step back, observed the wave and after a
short dash he stepped right on top of the wave enabling him to leap
safely over it. Vespazian landed a solid blow on agent's face, but
he did not even blink. The agent blocked next two punches and then
got to the offensive. Vespazian managed to fend off several of the
agent's attacks, but not a straight forward kick, performed in not
quite natural way. Vespazian slammed at a wall and fell to his knees.
But it was enough.
"Auram creo!" shouted Damian and pointed at the agent from where he
lay. A loud growl of thunder could be heard as the agent was thrown
off his feet. Visibly angry Damian decided not to pull any more
punches. He didn't even bother speaking words of power this time.
Once he had regained his footing he simply pulled lightning from the
skies hitting the second agent who had just started to charge
forward. He stood there for several long moments observing the
downed agents with flames, red as his anger, forming a circle at his
feet.
"Look out!" shouted Vespazian. It was enough to distract the
remaining agent who was aiming at Damian from a concealed location.
Damian made a throwing motion and, imitating him, the fire formed
into a red comet which struck the agent igniting him and sending him
through a glass window to the level below.
Damian felt an urge to finish them off, but he had different
priorities. And besides their supervisor could have been anywhere.
For the moment the path was clear.
Eye of the Tiger
Welcome to the World of Darkness in all of its gloom and majesty.
Eye of the Tiger is a chronicle that continues where 2nd edition of
Mage: The Ascension left off, in midst of Reality War, adding
influences from many stories, movies and games that came out in
nearly a decade since. The game will use rules based on both old and
new Mage as well as many other games. This part is still under a
discussion and any prospective players are welcome to post their
opinions. For the time being all you need is an idea for character,
which needs not be mage, but sorcerers, mortals, hunters,
inquisitors, psionicists and other such humans, including turncoat
technocrats are welcome, as well. Interested players can follow the
link below or search for Eye of the Tiger [Mage, Mortal, Sorcerer].

necessary; you will pick it up as we go along.

"I'm not going to ask you how you did it, but if you tell me there
is no spoon I'll shove it up your ass."
For the first time Damian could honestly smile to anything Vespazian
had to say.
