Wish I could be working on stuff. Just started a new job and have my

I'm still building parts. In Inkscape (SVG). So far, I have a torso in
two parts, a leg in three parts, an arm in two parts, a fist from the
back and palm-side, a head w/o hair. Trouble is, when I try to import
all the parts into the same SVG for compiling into a figure, I lose
many of my gradients and the colors don't seem to come out right. Since
I spent so much time getting the gradients and colors right on each
part, I really don't want to go back and try to fix them (esp. since
each part is actually made of several layered pieces - the palm-side
fist alone contains over 20 separate layered pieces with various
gradients and transparencies.) Once I am able to compile the parts into
a poseable figure, I'll start doing something.
I may have to skip out on this month's MMiP due to this, though. I have
about a dozen different projects that I'm trying to get done in a
limited amount of time on an even more limited budget. :(

I am quite excited by this idea, the Space 89 Jungle world for instance
(though I am unsure about the robots, might it not morel likely be wierd and
wonderful lifeforms such as carnivorous plants, dinosaurs etc?) However it
would make a lovely backdrop with easy to make plants, etc? The Insectoiid
world is also very inspiring, there are so many Insectoid forms it is
untrue. Either of those would certainly trip a creative idea with me, in
fact they are starting now! Those robots too - perhaps on a desert or Ice
world? How about Mine buildings for that "Mars"?

Thanks! I'm on a few groups that DON'T have moderators, and it's a pain.
Dragging back on topic...
Does anyone have Poser or DAZ studio? Has anyone considered using it to
make counters?
I've been all over the net, and I've downloaded 50+ megs of stuff that's
free, including some Space Marine stuff from WH40K. I'm learning how to
use Poser and DAZ studio...I've managed pose a Gorilla in a ballerina
pose so far. :P
Removed and done.

Good idea's, but I have just been itching to do a TANK. So I will be voting for
anything
tank related, I don't care what era, and doing a an alien tank would be cool
too. JIM

Welcome Sergioooo! Good to hear from you again!
The preliminary poll for MMiP #19 (November) at Brabantini is finished, and the
vote was
for Science Fiction. Any ideas for themes within that genre would be greatly
appreciated as
the MMiP #19 SF poll will be posted monday, October 10th, here at MMiP instead
of at
Brabantini.
Thanks all,

Actually, that was a part of "Wargods" plan too. At one point they had announced
another
game to tie in with Aegyptus called "Wargods of Olympos" (I think that was the
name) so
that Greek avatars and hereoes could battle Egyptian ones. They previewed a
model of a
Titan (!) but I don't know if the game was actually developed.
I'm a Norse mythos fan myself. I'm thinking along the lines of Valkyries.
Fantastical Creations: Golems, Homonculi, Clockwork creatures, summoned entites
perhaps, "the ship that sailed on Land & Sea" from Elric, there was some kind of
giant
mechanical bird in Hawkmoon, the Stormbringer rpg has all kinds of ideas for
demon
weapons and demon constructs, a flying carpet, the One ring, a
sorceror/necromacers
tower.
A mechanical man model appeals to me.
Eric
For Mythic Armies, I plan on making the Army of Neptune. Mermen and
tritons riding hippogriffs and seadragons. A castle made of coral and
Neptune himself riding in a giant clam chariot.
I'd like to write up stats for the army for Savage Worlds, but we'll
see if I get the time. It'd be pretty cool to be able to field
different mythological gods and their armies against each other, Roman
god versus Greek, Egyptian, Indian or African.
For Fantastic Creations, I was thinking maybe either Fantasy Mechs (a
la RuneStryder or DragonMech) or maybe an Elvish Tree Village (that'd
be a challenge!).

For Mythic Armies, I think it would be cool to make some 15mm figures for
Amazons,
Undead Roman Legions, Greek Centaur or Satyr armies, or even a Medusa army, with
some Titans. Or, go with some Egyptian mythic themes, see the Wargods of Egyptus
game for ideas.
For fantastic Creations, I'm thinking GOLEMS!, or mechanical monstrosities.
Personally
I'd love to do a Mechanical Iron Dragon, but there is no way I can do it one
month. It
would also be cool to see a walking castle tower, or mobile statue, Trojan
Horse, or
even Baba Yaga's house on legs, that would be cool too.
I think I may do a 15mm Amazon army in Greek dress. I will keep it simple with
just a
few poses for each troop type, and all 2D flats. I'm finding that it's harder
for me to
simplify my designs than make them more detailed, I always think I'm missing
something leaving out details, but we'll see.
I hope nobody else does anything for this MMiP, then I can get the prize loot
and buy
me the latest WorldWorks set. :) JIM
Cool! Thanks for setting this up. Looking very forward to the
mythology topic.
On the other topic, who has some ideas and inspiration? "Fantastical
Creations" is pretty vague, which is good in that there is prolly a
lot of leeway in what you do, but I'd love to get some ideas for the
types of models people would be interested in playing games with.

And the results are in, and the surprize is - I'm going to allow BOTH of the top
two results
for this first of the new showcases! That's right, there are going to be two
simultaneous

the
winner at the end of the showcase. All entries must be recieved by no later than
October
31st to be considered.

Looking forward to the MIP starting again. I really hope to
contribute at least a little to each one.
Keep this going!
I really miss Paperworlds. There was a lot of synergy brewing there.

Hi all,
Just to let you know, in regards to the polls for Models & Miniatures in Paper
genres and
themes, all future ones will be conducted here at the
Models_&_Miniatures_in_Paper Yahoo
group. I'll still post results and notifications of new polls at Brabaantini and
everywhere,
but to participate in the process you'll have to join up.
Also, the poll for MMiP #19 is leaning strongly towards Science Fiction as a
genre, please
submit ideas for specific themes you'd like to see presented in the MMiP theme
poll prior
to October 10th as that is when I'll be posting the full poll, here at the MMiP
Yahoo group
of course. Thanks!
Eric
Welcome Jim! Even if you don't submit anything your advice and encouragement has
always been appreciated.

I'd like to thank Squirmydad for taking up the challenge of running the
showcase, as a
monthly no less! I'm glad to read about your buddy putting up some money for
prizes. I look forward to seeing some new stuff being designed, I know I've been

I posted the notice for voting in the MMiP #18 poll all over the web, except for
here..So
yeah, there are two polls currently running at Brabantini; one for the specific
MMiP #18
theme, and the other for the general MMiP #19 theme.
So if you haven't yet, go vote!
Eric
Hi Thomas, welcome!
My hope is that once Paperworlds is fully operational again that I'll
be able to transfer files there each month after a MMiP showcase
closes. This MMiP group files area will just function as a holding area
each month.

Hello and welcome to the new group home for the Miniatures in Paper themed

program. The place is a little empty right now but very soon we'll have some
polls running
and get this show on the road! Thanks for coming by,
