I have one just like that. The pieces have to be
quite short or you can't move them on the center and
lower board. The ones that originally came with it
were MUCH too large.
The rules, basically a 3d expansion of regular chess
rules were completely un-playable. The best anyone
could hope for in most cases was a long battle of
attrition.
