Whatever you wish... there are the hobbits, the dragons, the men of dale and orcs, dwarves and elves... they are waiting... waiting for YOU. Your character need not be from The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings. You could aim for The Tolkien Reader characters, The Adventures of Tom Bombadil, Leaf By Niggle, Smith of Wooton Major... any Tolkien character will do. You can also create your own. Will you join me?
