I live on a busy street, which for some that seems odd since I do
live out in the woods where deer and bear are seen on a daily basis.
Still, I live on a main road, which is also a very old road having
been surveyed through this province in the 1860's. Yesterday was an
odd day: bright sunshine, no clouds, and hot. The temperature hit
the 90's. Being a busy road, many people were whipping about as if
they were the only ones using it. As a result, there were four major
car accidents in my area between 10am and 9pm, several resulting in
death and several more resulting in people being sent to the local
hospitals in serious condition. On such a nice day you might find it
strange that people would take risks with their lives, but many did
yesterday and a few lost that gamble. I guess they rolled
snake-eyes. The fire and ambulance personnel were very busy with
each accident taking between 2 and 3 hours of their time.
The accident that cause the most problems was the one that caused
Larry Leadhead to be uploaded late today. A fellow managed to take
down our power, telephone and cable lines in one quick swoop. The
odd part is that he did not hit a pole to do this, but instead
managed to get up 30 feet in his vehicle and sheer the lines from the
poles. The poles were not touched. To say that "speed" was a
contributing factor in this accident is to put in mildly. Someone is
missing this fellow today and asking questions. At least he did not
take anyone with him, but unfortunately, the rescue crews are not
likely unaffected. They were in a hurry to get to the scene, but
were in no hurry once they arrived. There was nothing to do. I
heard the car explode, which occurred 2 seconds after our power went
out and proves that electricity travels faster than the speed of
sound. Today the repair crews were working on the lines, getting it
all back together again, and I am once again able to upload Larry
Leadhead. Yet in the back of my mind I cannot shake the thought that
someone is missing that fellow.
