Well she could have tried to convert Gurge, but for some reason most of the Dymorans seem to feel that he isn't worth the effort even when he offers to pay for their services.

Class and style are two different things.  Kat definitely has style, and knows how to use it to her advantage.  Gurge would definitely admit that.  ,

Kat has class . . . it just isn't the same type of class.

Can't say the same about Gurge, though.  ;-)

1) Humans do not enjoy weasel treats, despite their pleasant flavor.

Not Sure why... They looked especially tasty.

2) When half-ogres start comparing their muscles, they don't pay attention to anything else.

It's True... And Mogrim (The Half Ogre) Still says that rage doesn't count for determining who's stronger ;-)

3) If a paladin tells you that being outnumbered 6 bad guys to 1 paladin is unfair odds, so you should go get more bad guys - believe him.  (This is doubly true if his companions begin selling tickets to the fight, rather than helping him).

I can't imagine who you're talking about :-) , but I am pretty sure said Paladin did not get a cut of the gate proceeds.

4) Fireballs are very very very hot.

Can I add that Lightning Bolts are too? Especially when one of your party members hits you in the back with one round of the final encounter dropping you down to half of your total hit points...

5) Sometimes you can trick foreign nobles into taking you to the Gilded Cage if they haven't yet learned the local customs for hiring adventurers.

As a foreign noble Valice fell for this one too back in the old days lol. Nileena still has a place in her heart for him I beleive LOL.

6) Even the huddled masses of the poor district don't like to see a Half-Ogre's bare behind and will literally rip the shirts off their backs to cover it up (it was NOT my behind, by the way).

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that was odd...

7) Lady Kylene Reilly does NOT wear three-inch, stilleto-heeled, thigh-high, black, leather boots.  Too bad.

Too bad indeed ;-)

8) Justin Steele impresses the ladies.

His legend precedes him for a fact!

9) Gnomes on Riding Dogs are WAY better than gnomes on foot when you're trying to get some healing.

This one is just funny.

10) Despite the fact that there is plenty of room, halflings will generally NOT ride in Roodkin's backpack - allegedly because a weasel lives in there, but I'm not sure I believe that's the real reason.  (Although, there is a weasel in there; his name is Nibbles).

I can't imagine why not... See #1. I bet they like weasel treats!

P.S. - Weasels are enamored of weasel treats, so it all worked out.

Yes, new cert files are in the works and should be forthcoming within a
few days times.

Should you need certs for particular mods, just send a request to Jay at

An update for those interested - the trade group is currently an armor market - do you want +1 shadow plate, a +2 mithril chain shirt, a hunk of admantine?  The trading floor is rocking (depending on how you define it).  Come on over (follow Jay's link) and take a look - and register!

Jay,

Hope this email finds you well. Quick question... there's a slight chance I might play LSJ this weekend, so I went looking for my character... . until I remembered that I had (to my knowledge) the only character in the game who was a half-dragon.

Now before you panic I'm not asking to continue playing such an wildly off-base character... he broke a lot of modules and that was with me trying to tone his power level down.

I was wondering if I could "trade in" the character for something of equal level, and what racial options were available?

Also, would I be be able to transfer the certs? I'd hate to lose everything I earned.

Thanks,

Christian Alipounarian

Unless the group has it disabled or it's "Moderator Access Only" this
could probably be handled very easily with the Database feature in
Yahoo! Groups.

Just set up a simple database with "Cert Name" (required), "Sought by
or Current Owner", and a toggle for "Wants to Obtain/Wants to Trade."
Doesn't clutter the list and anyone who's interested can check it out
or post to it at just about any time...

I am a little confused now. I have no problem waiting for a Mystical
Marketplace, if that is what needs to happen. However, 1) the cert does not say
that the item must be obtained at a Marketplace, 2) the author says it was
written so as not to require a Marketplace, 3) there are certs that do not
require a Marketplace, and 4) this is not one of those certs. If it's as simple
as you making an executive decision, that's cool. I'm not trying to be a pain in
your ear. I'm just asking for clarification because not everything is
consistent.

Thanks,
Sekou

Actually upon further reflection, the cert is in unto itself.  The cert acts for that item as it has both the space for the item created as well as the cost of said item.  So if there are no magical enhancements involved, then a Marketplace is not required.

Jay

PS: Do remember that if the full value of the cert is not used, any leftovers are not kept.  The Guild has not given the raw materials to the PC, but a voucher saying that they have up to a certain value as credit for items created.  (As you might be able to tell, I'm being purposely vague for people that haven't played the module yet.)

Just to add to Keith's post - the caster with the item creation feat(s) to whom you give your shiny new mithril item must in turn take the item to the mystical marketplace in order to upgrade it - upgrades to items can only take place at the mystical marketplace metagame event.

Personally, I had intended the cert to allow purchase of the mithral
item straight out. For enchantemnts you would need to bring your new
shiny toy to a Mystical Marketplace (or a caster with item creation
feats) and pay the full costs. Of course, the final decision rests with
Jay.

Just my 2 coppers, being the author and all. :)
