Found this site today, created by the more-than-famous Cap'n Paul Gazis:

Fabulous stuff!

(disclaimer: Paul is one of my science advisors on the Sixth Sun books, and
is not, and never has been, playing in Lords One).

Well, I've only been playing LOTE for about a year now. I am currently in three
campaigns and none of them resemble what the negative review talks about. All
the people I have dealt with have been great to interact with and I enjoy being
part of each game.

It's been expanded since I last did any work on it - the paragraphs of
criticisms are 'new'.

Charles,

As a first step I've attempted to qualify some of the material in the early
paragraph and moved all contentious material to the article's Discussion
page. This is intended to prevent an edit war or any accusation of negative
material being removed -- as it still exists if necessary it can be
returned.

Obviously, the page needs to be enhanced.

Charles,

> Hm, that looks to be basically a negative opinion add by a disgruntled
ex-player. Not experience with Wiki'ing stuff, but I've took a hack at tweaking
it to note it's an opinion and give a small counter (not sure what the user will
be, probably Anonymous so it may vanish :). Probably get bombed by any of the
formal editors I'm sure, but hopefully people here with more experience can
appropriately respond or revised the article so his opinion is not deleted by
correctly placed as an opinion with counter opinions to address any
inaccuracies.

Looks to be the work of 'Mercwyn'. I've some experience of enhancing a wiki
article for another PBM game and will look into editing this page over the next
few days.

"I had not known warcraft had undone so many."

No campaigns coming, none going. With obvious exceptions. I should say - my
favorite campaigns aren't really going. It's a bit like being a neanderthal in
Gibraltar - out beyond that bit of land, the more fell bipeds swarm and we
mutter songs of yesterday - or some such!

Anyway, I do enjoy my PBEM fix with regularity through Struggle of Nations,
which has a few openings, is simple, and provides a good bit of fun for the mind
- with rapid turn over and care, little Siam can be a progressive powerhouse.
With so few players, people are reluctant to bump each other off - for now. And
the GM will be thrilled to give a free turn or two, I am sure, for a new player.

More fun, maybe, would be the rebel positions, which pay nothing until they have
"power" to do things in the world. And you can always ask for one to be made for
you specifically - so if you don't want to be the Hungarian nationalists, you
can always be in China or Japan, etc.

Just scroll to the bottom of this link and peruse.

If you like Lords, you'll like this. It's VERY SIMPLE to play. You get as much
as you put into it....

That's awesome, Gus! Thomas Harlan, watch out!

My favorite so far:

Your title is: "The Cybermancers"

In an anachronistic Soviet Russia, a young schlub with mild OCD
stumbles across a magic diadem which spurs him into conflict with
humanity's selfish nature, with the help of a female who inexplicably
becomes attracted to the damaged protagonist for unstated reasons and
her discomfort in formal wear, culminating in eternal love professed
without irony.

Hee hee hee.

Leader kidnapped/killed/dies.

Nation DF/civil war.

Leader outside CCR and rebels.

Leader rebels for other reasons.

Region/city Leader expects to travel through revolts/conquered by another
Nation.

Action in order sequence fails (Amphibious Assault, Siege, Assault, Attack,
failure to break Blockade, Diplomacy ends badly, Evade, Explore) etc.

Action works (Reaction).

AP changes during turn because led units removed (combat/tsetse
flies/garrison/Explore...)

Etc.

> Let's assume that I've made no mistakes in writing my orders.

These mistakes often happen:

Leader picks up units slower than those he started with and lacks AP to reach
defined destination.

Mistake made in calculating AP required for led units to cross ferry point,
travel by rail, insufficient cargo space on ships assigned to move led troops
(leave some behind or shuttle?)

Someone else taking a region you were going to attack / move through
before you get there. If you have orders to attack region X but are
not at war with nation Y and X is pacified by Y your leader might
reasonably decline to start a war with Y.

Leader death could fail over command to a less capable leader who
lacks the AP to do the job.

Royal death leading to DF could effectively abort all leader orders as
they sort out who is the next top dog.

A successful Revise Orders (RO) op would do it!

Or if you are issuing a React order - that could pull you some distance.

Writing orders to handle unexpected conditions is tricky.

Let's assume that I've made no mistakes in writing my orders. Under what
circumstances can my leader and his troops end up in an unexpected region?

1) Losing a fight and getting pushed out of the region.

2) A storm at sea forcing a premature landing, perhaps? I've never had this
happen to me, but it seems possible.

Can anyone think of any others?

list:

 The Wudan Masters
 The Mongol Khaganate
 Glorious Khwarzim
 The God-Empire of Sri Vijaya
 The Kingdom of Chiangning
 The Kingdom of Chang'Ling

Take a look at the website to get an idea of where these are. All are in the

All,

though we have an upgraded version of the wiki at present (\wiki8) we
are going to remove the old one and rename the new one, so by the end of
the weekend (I hope!) the URL will be the same as it was before.
