List members,
For those of you unfamiliar with the International Pool Tour (IPT), it's the
new professional tour, designed to elevate pool into big-time competition.
IPT tournaments will feature the top 150-200 pros. Top women pros, including
Allison Fisher and Karen Corr, compete head-to-head against the top men.
I'm in no way connected to the IPT; however, I attended their inaugural
event in Orlando this past December. The competition was fantastic. The next
IPT tournament will be in Las Vegas, July 22 - 30. Total prize money at this
event will be $2,000,000!
For more information on the IPT, go to:
_www.internationalpooltour.com_ (http://www.internationalpooltour.com)
For the June TV schedule, which features excerpts from the Orlando event,

Hi, fellow list members.
Most of y'all have probably read about Kevin Trudeau's International Pool
Tour, which promises to revolutionize professional pool. I attended last
week's IPT event in Orlando, and thought y'all might be interested in
previewing
my trip report. Copy below

International Pool Tour
King of the Hill Tournament
Orlando, 2005
I attended the five-day International Pool Tour (IPT) tournament, held in
Orlando in December. Like many other pool players and fans, I had
reservations about infomercial promoter Kevin Trudeau, and I was skeptical
about his
promise to vault pool into the big time overnight. However, the longer I sat
watching the competition, the more impressed I became. The word
“engineering”
kept coming to mind. The attention to detail throughout the event was
worthy of a NASA space launch. The seating comfort in the convention center
and
the convenience of the video technology overhead made it easy to follow the
action. And yes, even the waitresses in matching black cocktail dresses
demonstrated attention to detail. On a scale of 1 to 10, the least attractive
young woman rated a 9.5. Which one was she? Simply a matter of personal
taste.
My guess is that never before have so many well-dressed pool players been
assembled under a single roof. In addition to the 43 players who competed in
this event, most of the additional 107 players who will compete next year
were also in attendance, and everyone was clad in business attire. And
throughout the five days, a tailored, omnipresent Kevin Trudeau patrolled the
floor,
talking with players and fans, ensuring that everything was going as planned.
Obvious attention had been given to seeding this first tournament with a
representative cross-section of pool notables. The 165 match-ups included:
men
vs. women, United States players vs. international players, 9-ball players
vs. snooker players, tournament players vs. road players, and current stars
vs. BCA Hall of Fame members. Play was good throughout the tournament, but I
thought it got progressively better as perennial champions the caliber of
Efren Reyes, Loree Jon Jones, and Johnny Archer grew increasingly comfortable
with the nuances of 8-ball and the tight, slow Diamond tables.
I spoke with several players who will begin playing in IPT tournaments in
2006, including Colin Colenso from China, Jackie Broadhurst from Denver, and
my personal friend, Charlie Bryant, from here in the Houston-Galveston Bay
Area. Based on my observations and conversations, I believe that if Kevin
Trudeau and the IPT continue to lead, there's a legion of enthusiastic,
professional pool players ready to follow.

Billiards Buzz Newsletter
Special Announcement 2005
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear APA League Member,
On Friday, October 21st, 2005, tickets for the
International Pool Tour's "King of the Hill" Invitational
8-Ball Shootout go on sale to the general public. This
historic and unprecedented event will pay the winner
of the tournament $200,000. Thirty of the best 8-Ball
players in the world and thirteen Hall of Fame players
will compete for $2,000,000 in prizes. The event is
being held at the Orange County Convention Center
in Orlando, Florida, November 30th through December
4th, 2005. The player list and tournament information
can be seen at www.internationalpooltour.com.
On behalf of Kevin Trudeau, and in appreciation of
your long-time support for the game of 8-Ball, I would
like to offer you an opportunity. There is very limited
seating for this televised event and we are expecting
tickets to sell out rather quickly. We have worked
with the APA to offer you an opportunity to obtain
tickets before they go on sale to the general public.
There are two ticket types for both the main
tournament and the final match. General admission in
the main tournament is $35 and VIP seating is $75,
both entitle the ticket holder to attend every day of
the event with the exception of the final match. The
main tournament starts on November 30th and runs
through December 3rd, 2005, with the doors opening
at 9am. Final match general admission seating is $35
and VIP seating is $75 The final match will be played
on Sunday, December 4th, 2005 at 1pm; doors will
open at noon (Eastern Time).
Tickets are going to be on sale to the general public
on Friday, October 21, 2005. There will be
absolutely
no tickets sold at the event. There will be no
exceptions to this rule. At the challenge match
between Loree Jon Jones and Mike Sigel, at Mandalay
Bay Las Vegas, hundreds of people who did not
purchase tickets in advance were turned away at the
door. There were also VIPs at some of the Las Vegas
hotels whose concierges could not secure tickets on
the day of the event. My suggestion is that you
encourage all your friends and family who want to
attend this event to call the number below ASAP so
that they are not without seats for this historic 8-Ball
tournament.
The ticket line will officially be open to the general
public on Friday, October 21st, 2005 at 10am.
However, the following number can be used by you to
purchase advance tickets:
(847) 850-2013
You may share this number with your friends and
family, but please do not post the number in a public
place until the ticket line is open to the public. Once
tickets go on sale to the public, we expect the event
to sell out rather quickly, especially the best seating
in the VIP areas. Please remember that there are two
different event tickets- one for the Final Match only
and the other for the tournament itself (with General
Admission and VIP seats for each)
I hope to see and meet many of you APA members at
the "King of the Hill" Invitational 8-Ball Shootout.
Thank you for your support of 8-Ball and billiards in
general.
Very best regards,
Deno J. Andrews
