Who: Kochanski, Dante and NSD
When: The Middle of the night
Where: Science Lab


Kochanski walked into the science lab to finish repairs on the power
systems before the inevitable battle with the hymenoptera fleet. He
worked quietly while the science boffs argued over their latest
problem. Dante and NSD were having a frantic argument about
something and so Callum naturally listened in...

"It's no good," shouted Dante as he banged his fist against the
table. "Blue Dwarf is a mining ship, even with the new laser turrets
we don't have the kind of firepower to go against the hymenoptera
fleet"

"We've tried to improve them as much as we can, if we feed anymore
power, they'll overload!" insisted NSD.

"Well we'll have to think of something else then, our missiles
aren't effective and the support craft will be outnumbered 100 to 1."

"We've talked about this in the past, we just haven't been able to
come up with effective weapons technology to counter the hymenoptera
threat."

"Well we have to!" shouted Dante again. "I don't have to remind you
that the hymenoptera are less than 24 hours away from Earth now."
Both men went silent as they racked their brains for a solution. Of
course they had overseen the simplest solution...

"Beer!" said Callum, joining into the conversation uninvited.

"Kochanski, this isn't the time for drinks." said Dante, who was
feeling really pissed off anyway.

"No!" replied Kochanski, "Beer, the hymenoptera are allergic to
alcohol, it's lethal to them...and if there's one thing that we have
on board this ship, it's alcohol."

"He's right!" said NSD as he picked up a data pad and began to work.

"I say, we remove the warheads from all the missiles and replace
them with liquid storage tanks, with detonators of course. Beer,
whiskey, vodka, everything we have, even the 100% proof medical
stuff that keto has in his lab!"

"Keto has 100% proof?" Dante asked in astonishment/excitement.

Callum ignored him and continued. "We could even vaporize and
compress the stuff, when the missile hits its target, it will send
out a cloud of gaseous alcohol, killing and hymies which come into
contact with it, plus any other hymie ships who absorb the vapour."

NSD quickly began drawing up designs and plans as Dante rushed out
to tell the rest of the security personnel and Alota.

Who: Alota
When: At the same time
Where: In her bedroom


Alota tossed and turned in her bed, unable to hush the nightmares of
Jay and the hymenoptera. Within her head, she was there on the
hymenoptera flagship, with Jay, almost like a ghost. She could see
him, giving orders in an insect voice. She couldn't say or do
anything. Nobody could see her. She tried yelling, but it was no
good, Jay could not hear her. All around the bridge of the insect
ship explosions were erupting as if they were under attack. Then a
massive bolt of energy was discharged hitting Jay. Then as he fell
to the ground Alota swore that he looked at her and said...

"Help me."

Alota bolted up in her bed. She was out of breath and sweating like
mad. She got up and walked towards the bathroom. She opened the
medicine cabinet and proceeded in taking out several bottles of
pills. Painkillers, sleeping pills and anti-depressants were the
contents and a large mixture was now in her hand. She threw the
pills back into her mouth and gulped them down. There was only one
thought going trough her head as she went back to bad...

"I have to get Jay back, whatever it takes."
