A couple years back, I used "Once Upon A Time" with my advanced students. They
really got into it, to the point where they didn't want to stop when the class
was finished and asked me where they could buy it themselves. Some of them said
they could even play it Japanese as long as they knew what the words on the
cards meant.

I have no idea of the level of your English students, but in the past few months I played at Once Upon a Time... Which could be found at Yellowsub (Akihabara).
The purpose is to invent a story. Each player has a different ending and receive several cards which represent Event, Item, Place, Character.... In order to finish a story all of them have to be used.
While playing we thaught that with some adaptation (and simplification) it could be a good game for Teaching.
An esxtension as be released called Once Upon a Time, Dark Tales...

For classical games like that, probably Tokyu Hands or Kinokuniya.
Cheers,

Hi,
Firstly, I'd like to buy some English language card games for my English
students. In the first instance I'm thinking of the classic game 'Happy
Families'.
Would any of you gentlemen know if there is a store here in Tokyo that would
stock something like that?
NB. I used to enjoy some of those English strategy games myself, things like
Conquistador or Kingmaker.
Kindest Regards

I can't believe that after all these years up here I've never run across anyone
else! I'm in Morioka (well, Takizawa, which is close enough for government
work), and have been jonesing for almost three years. We just had a baby so a
regular weekly commitment might be a bit much right now, but I'm up for the
occasional one-shot or board games night.

I know this forum is primarily for those living in the Tokyo area, but anyone
else up in the great frozen north? There are currently two games being run. Both
are D&D. The main game is played once a month in either Yamagata or Iwate
(though we could also include more prefectures if required) and has been running

So if anyone does happen to be living in Tohoku (dare I hope Morioka?), or would
like to play in a one-shot (Paranoia?) let me know.
Happy Gaming!
Sarah
Sorry I didn't reply to this earlier, but I've been quite busy moving house. I finally got to go to GWS in Nakano Broadway and snatched up the last box they had.
So, anyone is up for a game in Nakano? I'm free most weekdays in the afternoon.
