I have started to make a mod for Victoria to make it more like
Imperialism. Anyone who has the game would like to help or just
interested?
Godbless this game
I played it years ago and now I want it back . I downloaded the 43 mb
file from the underdogs. I did not apply the 1.03 patch because I did
not want to pay cash .
Anyway in the course of game I remember there should be a music playing.
The same music that was playing in age of empires 1. Right??
what could be the reason that I don't hear the music playing?
I am sure there are people out there who can help me. Ýf anyone could
give me some advice I will be more than happy.
Thank you all
Some games are unforgettable for many gamers. Being a gamer is to play
in commodore in amiga and pc.
Has anyone here played Victoria? If so, what was your impression of
it? In my own opinion, it is quite a good game, although it's economic
model seems a bit weak compared to Imperialism's. It's
political/diplomatic model, however, as well as the events, are great.
My understanding is that Imp1 was developed on PCs, which has made it
easier for people to dissect the code, and figure out how to do things
like make maps and scenario files. Imp2, otoh, was developed on Macs,
and so its data files are a different proposition, and are, barring some
nifty and not-yet-done programming, sealed. It would probably be
possible to get into the guts of them; but it wouldn't be
straight-forward, and no-one has tried, to my knowledge.
Also, Frog City have shown no interest at all in helping any modding
effort. Not out of any corporate bloody-mindedness; when I asked, a
couple of years ago, one of their programmers replied that there might
be something useful on the one of the old macs "out back", but they'd
have to get them fired up to see what was what, and no-one had used them
in ages. That was in the old days, when Frog City used to answer emails.
Whoever decided that Imp2 should be a closed program, with no capacity
for mods or user-made scenarios made a dumb decision...

The problem is that NO work has been done yet on making Imp 2 maps or
scenarios. I myself haven't even found a program for opening it's files.

Hi all --
I'm a longtime fan of both games. One thing I've always wondered -- is
there no map of the real new world for Imperialism 2? I find it hard
to believe that there is not.
Thanks,
Pat Callahan
I've made complete CD copies of the complete versions of both Imps
1&2, and packaged them up with all the relevant official and nocd
patches, plus the latest scenarios and map making tools for Imp1. You
should be able to find them on eMule by searching for
*imperialism_1_full_install_plus patches_and_maps*
and
*imperialism_2_full_install_plus patches
*If anyone finds anything in either zip file that needs changing or
doesn't work as advertised, please let me know...

I heard from the good Dr Spet today. He is kindly debugging a South
America map I did which for some reason didn't work properly, but is
busy working. He'll be done soon, and will then no doubt have more time
to devote to Imperialism related stuff.

Shalom smartgroup
Dr Spet has joined Yahoo group now, and has uploaded the maps to the
Files section.
The Smartgroups group will disappear in a couple of weeks.

appears i can do it without being a member. Right I'm off to expand British
interests in the Balkans.

I haven't noticed Dr Spet (who made the world maps) come across from the
Smartgroup to the Yahoo group yet. I haven't heard from him for a while.
He would be the best person to upload the maps to the files section of
the group, because that way we would be assured of having the latest
versions.
I'll email him.

all right, I am in
I voted for Imp2.
I used to like EU2, until I got sick of the daft
merchant system, and the fact that the game has only got 2 states --
you're either at war, or waiting for the next war to start. Even so, I
remember having a good time in one game creating a Swedish Empire in
the Pacific...
I really, really tried to like Victoria, and I've installed it a number
of times, but there's something about that game that just makes my
eyes glaze over. I don't know what it is. I read the manual, and the
wiki, and tried to hang in there, but after 10 minutes, I'm heading
for exit button, every time.
EU3 will be interesting, though.

Glad to see that the full imp downloads are working! Have you managed
to access the underdogs, I suppose then? Oh, btw, what happened to the
project Imperial Agenda?
Yes, Underdogs are a go again, fortunately. She had some problem with
the .com domain, I think she lost it, and there is a new url:
The old www.the-underdogs.com url used to point to one of those fake
search engine things, up till a couple of days ago anyway, but now, on
my browser at least, it goes to Amazon. I guess they bought the domain
name.
As for ImpAgenda, Lew and I were the main workers there, and due to
work/real life demands I had to drop the ball for a few months, and
concentrate on work. I'm still going to be busy for a few weeks (on a
couple of books -- note to self -- publishing sucks as a way to pay the
bills), but after that, I'm planning on getting back to the ImpAgenda
project (which I'm looking forward to, it was coming along nicely for a
while there...).
We were getting through the production screens, and making some good
progress, and I guess that'll be the best place to pick it up again.
Perhaps a few screenshots for discussion will be in order sometime soon.
