Bruce Wigdor's Allies defeated Nicolas Brodkorb's Central Powers with a VP total of 5 at the end of Turn 20.
It was a very tense, attritional game. Very few VP spaces changed hands, even temporarily. None in the Near East; just a build up and standoff. None in Italy; again, just a build up and a standoff.
On the German/Russian Front, although there was plenty of fighting, the CP took Lodz from Russia and that was it. Russia did capture Konigsburg, but it was back in CP hands by the end of the game.
The Balkans had a lot of activity. The Serbs were quickly crushed, but the Italians made it to Skopje and were never pushed out. Eventually Salonika, the rebuilding of the Serbs, and Army of the Orient enabled me to take Sofia.
There was a lot of action in France. For the most part, GE held the Liege-Sedan-Metz-Strasbourg line, but a few times made meanacing thrusts into Chateau Thierry and Cambrai. It was here that the game balanced on a razor's edge. I had good luck on my counterattacks, or else my position in France would have been wrecked.
There was virtually no combat between the Russians and Austria-Hungarians, but in the end of the game Russia advaced and claimed Czernowitz and Lemberg. Similarly, the action in the west had left Britain and France depleted, and Germany was able to grab Brussels, Ostend, and Antwerp.
I know the Central Powers missed at least one Mandatory Offensive; I'm pretty sure I didn't miss any.
At the end, this all added up to a VP marker of 5 and a win for my Allies. A good tough game.
