As part of the Carleton University Game Day event,

Carleton School of Information Technology

Invites all game development enthusiasts to participate in

Global Game Jam - 2009

In a Game Jam, artists, programmers, and designers come together to make video games. Each participant works in a small team on a complete game project over the course of a limited time period, usually over a weekend. In a Global Game Jam, people all over the world meet at 44 different sites to jam simultaneously!

Competition

Start: Friday January 30, 2009, 5:00PM

End: Sunday February 1, 2009, 3:00PM

Evaluation

Sunday February 1, 2009, 3:00-5:00PM

How It Works

Everyone meets at their local Game Jam on Friday, January 30, 2009. Doors will be shut promptly at 5:00pm. Local Organizers will then share the constraints and rules for the game Jam. Everyone will have 15 mins. to come up with a pitch and then share it with the group. Teams will then be formed; no one leaves until everyone is a part of a team. Teams are free to use the space at the host venue. Each team will have until 3:00PM on Sunday, February 1st to create their game. The local jurors will then go around and play all the games and at 5:00pm, each team will present their game to all participants. Each Local Jam will announce what team best embodies the spirit of the jam. We hope to raise enough funds to bring the best examples of the local Game Jams to the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, CA, USA. All finished games will be archived onto the Global Game Jam website for all to play.

Participation is free. Competition will happen in Azrieli Pavilion, Carleton University. Computers with common programming and multimedia software and internet access, and also access to rest area and food to buy (and some free meals) will be provided.
