Playing chess promotes spatial and analytical intelligence, effective learning, interpersonal skills, problem solving, decision making, self esteem, and self confidence. It is a good way to learn that the first option available is not always the best option. Studies also show significant improvements in memory, reasoning, comprehension and self-esteem. Chess teaches important life lessons, as well, including: planning, concentration, setting and achieving goals, sacrifice, personal responsibility for decisions, respect for others, organized work habits, mood management, patience and persistence.
We currently meet at a home in the Atlee area on Wednesdays from 9:30 - 11:00AM for chess lessons. Adrian Rhodes is our instructor and the cost is $15/one child, $25/two children for each lesson.
