Playing chess promotes spatial and analytical intelligence, effective learning, interpersonal skills, problem solving, decision making, self esteem, and self confidence. It is a good way to learn that the first option available is not always the best option. Studies also show significant improvements in memory, reasoning, comprehension and self-esteem. Chess teaches important life lessons, as well, including: planning, concentration, setting and achieving goals, sacrifice, personal responsibility for decisions, respect for others, organized work habits, mood management, patience and persistence.
We currently meet at the Talent Developing Studio (Homeschool Wednesdays...www.thetds.com) on Wednesdays from 10:00 - 11:30 AM for chess lessons. Adrian Rhodes is our instructor and the cost is $15/one child, $25/two children for each lesson.
