All,

There is still time to plan to attend MobiCon. Including midnight
games we are planning 9 slots of LG goodness. Come to MobiCon and
advance your character towards that final goal before retirement. Play
in one more battle interactive before the end of the campaign. Its a
fun little con with lots of interesting things to do while not gaming
too. Gaming is free, but you must purchase a convention badge. Details
at the con site (see below)

Hope to see you there.

Harry
MobiCon RPGA Guy

http://www.warhorn.net/MobiconXI/

MOBICON is a gathering of sci-fi, fantasy, comic, anime, and gaming
fans to meet people with the same interests. Each year we go ALL OUT
to bring great guests, game, and merchants from all over to make it
great. MOBICON is held in Mobile, AL to raise money for a selected
charity. This is the 11th year for MobiCon. Note that slots are
subject to change based on how sign up goes and the availability of
judges. For more information see the main Web site at

Odd that you mention this.

Now that Ket has been taken, no doubt the 5000 men of the Keoland Army that
helped in that war are making their way back home. Gran March is
technically between Bissel and Keoland.

Actually in the interlude it was only one candidate for Commandant that has
expressed that desire. Still if one of his aliases was to take the post,
you might be needed for your loyalist faction. In that case the Commandant
would lead the rebellion and command his armies, both the armies of men and
the other.

------------------------------------------------

The blurb for GRM 8-5 Quorum, premiering at ConCarolinas currently says:

With threats of armies north and south, individual Knight Colonels making
individual decisions and much of the Battle Seasoned troops still outside
the nation, the times demand one leader and Gran March does not have one.
The call to elect a new Commandant has come, with the formal resignation of
the last. Can enough of the Electors make it to Hookhill in order to elect
the needed leader or will Chaos reign. This is a continuous Two-Round Gran
March Regional adventure for APLs 4-16, and the Finale for the Gran March
region. This game contains spoilers for GRM 7-2 "Gullet", GRM 7-3 "Who
Sleeps Upon Your Bed," GRM 8-1 "Consequences," GRM 8-IN1 "Vanguard," GRM 8-2
"Pest Control" and GRM 8-4 "Deceit." While some of these spoilers are
minor, GRM 8-2 should definitely be played before this game. Parties having
a character who possesses or is bonded to Hellbreaker could have an
advantage. All other year 8 games take place before this game in the
timeline.

Note: This adventure will be of particular interest to characters who are
concerned with the fate of Gran March and/or who would prefer that Keoland
not choose the next Commandant.

This post is to find out if the Gran March is actually intending to
secede from the Empire or if that was just being considered.
Personally, I'm against splitting from the Empire, but they may have
their reasons. Is there a link for the whole story?
If the Gran March is splitting from the Empire, who else might be
interested in forming a loyalist contingent to put down the rebellion
(which would basically mean most of the military would be against us
and the Keoish reinforcements would probably be too late to help us)?
One could assume that those more loyal to the Commandant would join the
loyalists and those more loyal to the military would join the
seperatists?

Kristi,
The folks at the hotel are... well I have nothing nice to say about them.

I've been on the phone with them today. Theoretically, they have a
block of rooms for about $63 a night. They're booked under
"Grayhawk". I know... but they actually had the nerve to correct my
spelling, so I let it lie - that was just easier. However, the group
name is actually "**Grayhawk" in the computer. The front desk can't
find it in the machine because of the asterisks, and they can't change
it. You may have to tell whatever mouthbreather is working the front
desk to actually type in an asterisk or two...

If you have problems, ask for Walter White, he's the manager.

Paige

There were four or five (I'm not sure I counted playtest tables)
Signs of Trilesimain given out at EconoCon.

If those players whose characters at EconoCon gave up their life
(permanently) for the defense of Gran March would contact me at
grimnim (at) yahoo (dot) com I would like to speak with you.

I understand that most of the recipients are not from Gran March
(their characters mostly were from allied militaries), so if you know
of people who received the honor, if you could forward them this
message I would appreciate it. Their sacrifice and award will appear
in game. assuming I get the information by deadline.

Thanks for your help.

P.S. For those interested, and to be cryptic to avoid more spoilers,
the signs did win the day, critically.

I think the best moment of the con was when the power went out.

12 tables, 70-odd people? A few shouts about half-speed movement and miss
chances, but not a single pause in the gaming... everyone just whipped out
cell phones and PDA's, shone the light on the battle mat, and kept on
gaming!

When the power was still out ten minutes later, a few of us hauled in the
emergency lights from our cars, some of us with the crank variety happily
cranking along to keep the battles lit...

When the power was still out twenty minutes later, we dragged the tables
out into the hall to make use of daylight coming in the windows. A few
tables talked hotel folks into candles for light. We got the hotel folks
to bring us batteries so we didn't have to crank anymore.

An hour later? The executives from the meeting next door are still
whining, and we're happily looting corpses. Gamers rule!

In Hammerfall, there is an opportunity (for some) to join the
Baronial Pride of Barony Hammer. There has been a question on
whether members of elite organizations could take advantage of that
opportunity. The triad has discussed this matter and have formed the
following as a result:

Military elite organization members may join the Baronial Pride of
Baroness Hammer and remain members of those elite organizations.
This is not a lot different that the temporary posting that was
allowed for Sterich in the past, The in-character representation of
this is:

"The Barony Hammer is far remote from the rest of Gran
March, members of the Elite organizations
(Moutaineers, Pathfinders, Couriers and River Guard)
are allowed to join her Baronial Pride for the first
year, with their status reviewed by the Commandant
after that time."

Persons who received the AR invitation to join the Baroness Hammer's
Baronial Pride should contact the Miltiary POC if they wish their
character to take this opportunity.

Note the critical event period for Hammerfall comes to a close at the
end of this month.

For Meta-Org advancement, where the requirements don't involve an invitation
or there is no limit to the numbers of a type, MRs are optional. They
provide a service of having all the costs and benefits in one place so one
does not need to bring the Meta-Org document with your materials.

The Next Step
By P. Dennis Waltman

Two voices in the dark, discussing the fate of many people. One no
longer needs light to see in the dark, the other does not need to see
at all.

"It has been weeks since Vrianian has been gone, and still no
election called," said the man, "the doubt of his fate has kept the
nobles from being gathered."

"I warned you that Housemann was a sly one and he would not let slip
the reigns of power until he was ready," said the second voice. "He
has taken a situation where there is no doubt and created it."

"There is doubt, we don't know if Vrianian is alive or dead –"

"This is no doubt," the second voice interrupted, "that Vrianian will
not return. Housemann has woven a pattern of lies around it, but
when that Nightwing fellow told the 1st Battle escorts that Gran
March would need a new Commandant, you can be certain of the truth.
Knights take their Precepts very seriously, as their taking Vrianian
into custody shows."

"It is hard to believe that Magnus Vrianian wrote that letter, " said
the man, that some know as Nolar Thotec, as he looked at a copy of
said document, "It is no wonder the Knights were upset. They
removed him ahead of anyone's schedule, but I have the votes now, if
the nobles were to gather, but every day Housemann spins his lies and
favors, and a couple of my votes waver."

"I have told you, the next step is necessary. The Knight Colonels
are starting to make independent decisions, and your rivals are
making inroads to your base. You need to go into the Lortmills and
take the next step. Force the nobles to realize that one command
authority is needed now more than ever."

"It is a very big step," Nolar replied. "One with potential to do
much damage to the land, allies, and even my followers.
Perhaps too much damage, perhaps too much cure for the disease."

"There are more purposes here than just to bring chaos and
destruction. Your plan, once you are Commandant, to declare Gran
March independent from the Keoish Empire, is ambitious. But, for all
the decadence of Keoland, they will not take that lightly. Remember
that they quickly brought 5,000 troops from Keoland to Bissel without
going through Gran March. Such capacity would ill
serve your goals. You will need shock troops capable of such
movements and with great numbers." The room was illuminated with a
sudden flare of red and white fire along the length of the
Hellscepter, who continued, "I will handle that which your previous
machinations have made possible, and together we will work towards
your Free Gran March.

-----------------------------------------

A COPY OF THE LETTER FROM THE PAST.

To the Margrave of Bissel,

Greetings.

It seems that Bissel has driven off the Ketite Horde that threatened
to invade earlier this year during your coronation. Indeed, my
Pathfinders have told me that Bissel has taken positions in Ket that
should make it unlikely that any further "invasions" can take place
in the future. My people in Ket itself don't see an active
mobilization of forces that one would expect with an organized
invasion, though they have said that many of the road forts ahead of
Bissel's current position seem to have significantly more troops than
normal. That is quite odd considering the navigability of the road
this time of year.

I am ordering my Army of Security to leave the city of Shiboleth
where it has been aiding in the reconstruction following a series of
horrific events. The Army will move to the Gran March/Bissel border
to do maneuvers and war games to get back into fighting trim. In the
event that Ket drives Bissel out of their current positions and takes
Bissel land, the Army of Security will force march to the border and
do whatever is necessary to remove Ket.

However, it looks to me that Bissel has attained her goals. The army
of Bissel has taken strategic positions that will prevent raids, like
the one that took place at your coronation, from happening in the
future. There seems no reason to push further into Ket. Indeed,
should Bissel decide to take up offensive operations, rather that the
current defensive moves, then Gran March will withdraw its support,
pull the Syrloch volunteers, Pathfinders and 19th Battle back to Gran
March and let you and Ket fight it out. Should your offensive flash
back in your face, we'll build walls and forts along our border to
keep Ket out of our lands.

Make no mistake, I will support Bissel wholeheartedly in its
defensive war, and I think the offensive operations taken in this
defensive actions were possibly appropriate. If you take the steps
to escalate to an offensive war, you will not drag Gran March into
it.

Signed;

Magnus Vrianian, Commandant of Gran March

A lot has been happening as we ramp up for Conquest Vegas. We value
your time and hate spam as much as you do. Therefore, we've been
waiting to put out one major update. After this post, we'll probably
provide one final update right a week or so before the show. Now,
here we go!

Hotel Rates
------------------------------------
We received several emails noting that our deadline for discount hotel
rates provided a very, very short window for decision making. First,
allow me to apologize for the confusion and the inconvenience. I am
happy to report that hotel registration at the discounted convention
rate will remain open until the entire block of rooms is booked.

With that said, rooms are going fast. So, it is best to book as soon
as you can. Once all of the rooms are booked, the discount rate will
be closed out. We are looking into a convention rate at the Paris
hotel as well. However, while connected to Bally's, the Paris is no
where near as convenient. And, there is no guarantee that we'll be
able to secure additional rooms at nearly as good a rate as we have
with Bally's. In any case, the Paris rate will not be made available
until the Bally's block is sold out.

So again, don't take too long to book your room.

Pathfinder RPG Preview
------------------------------------
I am happy to announce that Conquest Vegas will be giving players a
chance to preview the recently announced Pathfinder RPG from Paizo
Publishing. The Pathfinder RPG (P-RPG) is a polished revision of the
3.5E OGL D&D rule set and is due in August 2008 (Beta)/August 2009
(Final).

These sessions will use existing Pathfinder modules, which will be
played using the latest and greatest P-RPG Alpha release. The Alpha
release is freely available (link below) at Paizo.com. Please note
that these sessions are strictly previews of the rule set, and not a
sneek peak at early Pathfinder Society modules.

Players can use provided pre-generated PCs. Or, they are free to
create their own PCs using the latest release of the Alpha rule set.
In all cases, players will be asked to fill out a play test evaluation
form which will be delivered to Paizo. This is a unique opportunity
for you to participate in the design of a new RPG.

The specific Pathfinder modules to be played are still being
confirmed. Additional details are forthcoming. Thanks to Josh Frost
and Jeff Alvarez of Paizo for helping make this happen.

DnD4E & LFR Previews
------------------------------------
I am also happy to announce that we have provisional RPGA approval to
run the two DnD4E/Living Forgotten Realms (LFR) previews from DDXP
(Escape from Sembia and Scalegloom Hall). The requirement is that we
use judges who were either pre-approved 4E play-testers (you know who
you are) and/or 4E DMs (Delve or LFR Preview) from DDXP.
Understandably, WotC/RPGA wants to maintain high-quality game play
experience with the previews. Thus, the requirement for DMs with 4E
experience.

So, if you are a qualified 4E preview DM, please contact me directly
(email below). I promise to keep your identity and contact information
private, so you are not bombarded by requests to provide scoop on 4E.
:) All 4E preview DMs will get into the conference for free and we are
working on some other perks. Details will be provided privately as
they become available.

At the moment, we are still working to secure enough DMs for the
event. So, while I have posted these sessions on Warhorn, the
schedule is subject to change. Special thanks to Chris Tulach, Bill
Benham, Josh Kaufman and Mike Rizzo of the RPGA for helping make this
happen.

LG Midnight Madness
------------------------------------
We will be featuring Midnight Madness at Conquest Vegas. The gaming
floor will be open 24 hours for your use. All currently legal Core,
Nyrond, Pale and Nyrond Meta-Regional modules can be played. GMs will
be required to register their games with RPGA HQ. Please provide your
on copy of the module. If you plan to run a game that is on our
regular schedule, we will be glad to provide ARs to you. Otherwise,
you will need to provide ARs as well.

If you are interested in MM play, please sign up in the MM slot on
Warhorn. If you plan to GM a MM slot, please email me with the name
of the scenario you plan to run and the night you plan to run it.
Then, I will add it to the MM slot on Warhorn for you.

Other Organized Play
------------------------------------
In addition to LG, Pathfinder and LFR, we are also looking at adding
Serial Pulp Adventures (SPA) and Living Arcanis (LA) to the schedule.
If you would like to see these games added, please email me (address
below) to express your support.

Warhorn is now active
------------------------------------
If you have already purchased your convention pass, you may now
pre-muster for all slots on Warhorn (link below).

For those new to Warhorn, when you pay for your pass (link below), you
will be cleared to pre-muster. This process is not automatic, so
please allow some time for the word to get from registration to me so
I can clear you on Warhorn. Also, please note that registering for
your convention pass does not automatically create an account for you
on Warhorn. You need to do that yourself. It is usually best to
both at the same time so we can clear you as quickly as possible.

Table musters are given a "first come, first served" preference based
on order of Warhorn registration. So, if you do not sign up for slots
on Warhorn, you will end up at the bottom of the table muster list on
the day of the session.

Warhorn Registration:
http://www.warhorn.net/ConQuestVegas2008/attendee/new.php

Call for Judges (Perks)
------------------------------------
As with all conventions, we can always use judges. If you are
interested in running LG games at Conquest Vegas, please email me
directly. Or, simply sign up to GM directly on Warhorn. Folks who GM
6 or more slots get into the convention for free. Midnight Madness
slots will count towards this total.

PSS. Note - This is not spoiler information, simply a running
joke from YeoGaCon 2007. Dog Mods may or maynot appear in any adventure.

I noticed that the Year 8 Yeomanry mods are only offered on
Sunday (besides the interactive), are more slots going to be added
later, or is this the set schedule?

Normally you have tons of con promotion in this area, all of
which no

one ever reads. So, all I will say is, follow the link and
sign-up now.

Come to the Yeomanry. Play our Adventures. As much as it pains
me to

say, we promise, no Dog Mobs this year. :(

My last information on SHE 8-1 is that the game is APL 10-16 and a sequel to
SHE7-06 A Topaz is Forever. The only blurb I have is an early draft
version.

The early blurb does contain the statement
"Unbalanced parties or parties without arcane spell-casting may find this
adventure to be too difficult to complete successfully."
