Although, I could see a case being made if you sold and re-crafted
pearls every adventure.

If you ever had access to a specific Pearl of Power on a past AR, and
have the Craft Wondrous Item Feat, then you can craft that Pearl,
presuming you can cast spells of that Pearl's type.

As for the caster level 17 issue.... the D&D FAQ (
http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/Main35FAQv05182007.zip ) specifies the
following on page 56:

------------------------
Question: The rules for magic item creation permit a character
creating an item to use scrolls, wands, or even another
caster as the source of the spells to be placed in the item.
The rules do not, however, state clearly whether the
character crafting the item has to be of a level sufficient to
cast a given spell. Is the caster level of the character with
the item creation feat being used to create the item (the
“creator”) a limit on the power of the item? For example,
can a 3rd-level wizard with the Craft Wondrous Item feat
create items containing any spell (assuming access to the
spells by other means), or is he limited to 2nd-level spells?

Answer: Unless stated specifically, items never have a minimum
caster level as a prerequisite. (The “CL” entry is the default
caster level of the item, not a requirement for creation.)
A 3rd-level wizard with Craft Wondrous Item could create
a harp of charming (even though he’s not high-enough level to
cast suggestion, a prerequisite for creation), as long he had
access to the suggestion spell during creation (such as from an
item or another character).
-------------------------------------------

The DMG specifies all Pearls of Power to have a CL17. The REQUIREMENTS
are simply to have the Craft Wondrous Item feat and be able to cast
spells of the spell level to be recalled. The CL17 entry is only
important in this instance when you need to determine the magic item's
saving throw vs. damaging effects, etc.

I hope that helps... :-)

If you have the feat CWI, it makes sense to do this.

A PoP1 costs 500gp and 40xp to make.

When you see something that you like you sell the PoP1 for 500gp (and
you are only out the 40xp).

This way your money is actually doing something constructive for you
instead of just sitting around gathering dust waiting for you to
spend it.

It does slow level advancement slightly, but some people look at that
as a good thing.

I am not sure when these are supposed to be mailed out but I doubt I will
receive one. For some reason WOTC doesn't like me, I am never on their
reward mailing list :). I had to email them just to get campaign cards,
they told me there was a problem and they would send them out. 8 Months
later I got a big stack ;)... Just complaining.

Sherrie,

My e-mail bounced when going to this account.

Also, most people cannot see the e-mail address due to the Yahoo!

Actually, there seem to be several "oysters" out there already, PCs
who crap out a new pearl ever few ARs, not that there's anything
wrong with that.

Per the DMG errata (which has been around since practically the beginning of
3.5) caster level is not a prerequisite of magic item creation unless it is
specifically called out in the prerequisite section (as it is for ioun
stones). Now that the LGCS does not use artificial prerequisite rules, we
use the default DMG magic item creation rules.

The "caster level" requirement that was in place for pretty much the
entire campaign has been removed. Which means Pearls of Power can be
crafted as long as you A) have AR access to purchase the item in the
"Items Found During the Adventure" section, and B) can cast the level of
spell equal to the Pearl you are crafting.

Looks like you missed one of the other changes to the LGCS 7.0 (& 7.5)

Caster Level is no longer a prerequisite for most magic items (unless
the item requires it in the text).

For example, the aforementioned Pearls of Power require that you be
able to cast a spell of the appropriate level, so a 5th Level wizard
could craft magic item a PoP3.

Of course, another change is that you have to have access to craft an
item, so you must have encoutered a PoP3 on some AR.

Anyone can craft an item from the open list, as long as they have the
proper spells. A cleric could craft any Periapt of Wisdom, but they
can't (unless they have some other access to Cat's Grace) craft
Gloves of Dexterity.

You keep any stuff that you have as long as it has not been removed from
the campaign. Pearls are still in.
You cannot craft any more of them until you get access, however.

After just coming back to LG after a 2 year break I was just updating my
character and making sure everything is legal when I noticed that the
LGCS v 7.5 doesn't have open access to Pearls of Power. So I went and
checking my Syrloch Meta Doc v 6.0 and it isn't in there anymore either.
So if I have old Pearls of Power that I crafted in yr 5 and I no longer
have the access I must sell them back correct?

Also, anyone able to point me to where I can get pearls access?

Greetings All!

Well, it seems that Origins open fiesta is a smash hit. We right now
have 12 tables over the three nights and only 4 open seats. So this
email is to basically ask for judges. If you think there is a good mod
from your region that you would like to run for the world then please
contact me at christophergood172 @ gmail.com and I will add it to the
list. We need more tables to make sure the RPGA allows us to keep
doing this. Thank you kindly.

A small funny story that is completely OT and non-rpg related, but those of
you who know me or have kids may find amusing....

A few weeks ago my wife and daughter (who just turned 4) were going shopping
at Target and asked if i needed anything. At the time i was busy
concentrating on something and getting frustrated doing whatever it was, so
i told them, "yeah, I need a new brain. If they have any on sale, get me
one." My wife and i laughed and they went on their way.

Last week i received this box from RPGA and I opened it in front of my
daughter. As i pulled out the brain, she said, "Look Daddy some one mailed
you a new brain! I'm glad we didn't buy one at the store!"

I couldn't stop chuckling for a half-hour.

enough vases and space to put them all. If you want some roses for your
room while you are at the con let me know of list. I can't promise a
color, amount or a day that I will bring them, but if you want some I
will try to get them to you.

Thanks

It's part BI, part Delve, 8 hours total time, according to what Brett
told us yesterday.

Brett's busy writing the BI (I still need to find out if its 1-slot BI
or a delve offered over multiple rounds), so the scheduling duties
have fallen into my hands.

I'll admit, I've been a bit slack of late, but there will be plenty of
LG at the con (hopefully offerings from several other campaigns too).

Once I get a feel for what we can realistically offer, I'll set up the
warhorn site. Hopefully that won't be too far off in the future...

ps - the con is in Raleigh, over the weekend of August 3-5.

At this point the Premier of GRM 7-5 "Currents" and a Battle
Interactive are in the works for TriNocCon. There may or may not be a
new Intro mod.

Leaving it out of the module, will resolve both issues. Leaving it at
home for the module does not preclude one from selling their sword on
the AR, if they so desire.
