So, I'm mostly echoing iago here, but some things bear repeating.
I am pleased, honored and a little bit shocked about the awards, as
well as our showing in the Game of the Year category. You should all
take a moment to be thankful that the internet protects you from
actually seeing me do the Dance of Joy.
But once you've scrubbed that horrifying image form your minds, I would
like to thank everyone on the list for making it possible. That we
would never have won best support without such a thriving community
almost goes without saying, but it goes deeper than that. You are the
folks who have taken the time to look at our strange little game and go
"Hnh. That's neat enough to do something other than forget about
immediately." We are not a business. We do not advertise or market in
any meaningful way. Most people who find Fate do so because someone
says to them "Hey, you should check out this thing", and the people who
say that are all of you.
I love Fate. I'm proud of everything we've done with it. But it's you
guys that make the difference between it being one more PDF out in the
vast bloat of net gaming and a living, breathing game.
So I want to address two specific things we got props for that I don't
think we deserved.
First off, The wiki. If you are not checking out the wiki
occasionally, then you should be. It's that good.
Second, we got some credit for taking your feedback into account and
incorporating it into the game, as an illustration of our
responsiveness. I'd like to dismiss that myth: it's not that we're
responsive, it's that you guys have really good ideas, and we love to
steal them.
Anyway, I'm still pretty delirious about all this (again with the
dancing) but I wanted to make sure that while we were getting our
props, that you guys got yours.
Thank you all, very much.
