Hi all. I'm currently working on an expansion to my much-loved (by me
anyway) Spirits of Steam and Sorcery, called Spirits of Chrome and
Cyberspace. As you might guess, it is an adaptation of Shadowrun to
FATE3, though ignoring the magical elements and just playing a
cyberpunk game will be simple to do.
My question is this: Many of the rules are identical to those in
SoS&S... the changes to character creation, the races, the rules for
magic and all the stunts that go with it, etc. If I just write SoC&C
as an add on to SoS&S, it'll only be a few pages (currently I'm at
about 5-6 pages)... adding Trolls as a race (the rest were already
covered), computer use/hacking rules and stunts, a few additions to
the magic rules, cyberware construction, and a couple other things
here and there. But doing that requires someone to also download and
use SoS&S, which will contain a few sections that won't be relevant,
such as steam-tech malfunctions and faerie races (though they could
then easily add faeries to the list of allowed races if they like...)
So should I make SoC&C self-contained, repeating (copy and pasting)
all the relevant sections from SoS&S, (which is 19 pages long by
itself), or just make it a short add on supplement? If anyone here
had an interest in reading and using it, which would you prefer?
