Werewolves usually don't use guns. Their claws are too long. The stained crystal
skull
involved in it all goes with the rest of the Blue Monkey.
The Maltese Falcon is a decoy. There are seven of those, some real, some not,
spread
throughout the globe.

In my best imitation of Sidney Greenstreet as Mr. Gutman.

"Very well, sir. How do you like that. You've successfully grabbed the Maltese
Falcon. Well
played, Sir. But you see, I lied the first time. There isn't just one. There are
seven black
birds that have been drug up from the Adriatic. And, of course, a picture of
THIS:"

Gutman holds up what looks to be a green crystal skull with a blue-ish stain
over the top,
like a tonsure.

"What do you make of that, sir?"

"It's a scull," I say brilliantly.

"Ha ha. You're sense of humor knows no bounds, sir. I commend you -- it is
indeed a
scull. The scull of the Blue Monkey. Venerated by the Motocs, and obscure tribe
in South
America, the Blue Monkey is a statue not quite so famous as the Maltese Falcon,
but that is
real crystal, sir."

I snort. "I've got some crystal glasses you can drink from. Would you mind
getting the
gunsel out of my sight?"

"Watch it, mister," the gunsel says tersely, all quiet like.

"Easy son. I'll just disarm you again."

He steps forward, lips thin.

"Now, now Edgar. Or, whatever the hell you name is. To continue, sir. The Blue
Monkey is
missing the skull, and with it I believe we could command the Motacs to do
anything."

"Why do I think you're about to say there's another bird in the area..."

"Ahead of me as usual, sir. Oh, and one more thing. Pack your weapons with
silver
bullets."

"Silver!"

"Yes sir. The Motocs have an unfortunate tendency to turn into werewolves at
their whim.
So what do you say, sir. With your perspicacity and my resources, we could get
the next
Falcon together. Hm? What do you say."

"Mr. Gutman... I think this is the start of a beautiful relationship."
