Both bowers, no aces on Defense   Message List
Reply Message #9898 of 14293 |
Hello everyone,

Here is another situation that has happened to me more than once:

The opposing team either orders up or calls a suit in which I have
both bowers on defense. This happens more often than not, especially
when I'm in first seat since I would usually pass and "bag."

What do I do now? Is this a good time to lead trump on defense?

If I had a side ace and I am at first chair, I would usually lay the
bowers down and then run the ace. However, it is a much tougher
question for me when I am no on first chair, or if I don't have an ace
to establish.

For the sake of discussion, here is a more specific situation:

You are sitting at first chair holding both bowers and three losers
(full suited). The dealer picked up a low trump (say a queen). Would
this be a time to lead trump on defense?

Those guys pretty much summed it up. Lead a loser if dealer orders and a bower if 2nd ordered. On the subsequent trick, hold your second bower and lead an...

A more common situation is when I am holding 4 lowest and 2nd orders up the right to his p. This is a no brainer honestly. At best 2nd holds Left-Ace....
