Hi all,

first of all a big apology to everyone for the long silence, so many
things are happening so fast that is hard to keep track of all!

Anyway, I just wanted to keep you up to date with what is going on,
because despite the appearances much is moving in the darkness...

First of all, the figures. We have completed the amazingly painful
transition to the new workshop and I'm very glad to say we're now back
to 100% capacity. New figures are back into development already, and
so are a number of support items, including resin scenic, terrain bits
and bases. That said we have a very full schedule on the historical
side, which has to get precedence because that is the most established
part of our business, and where all revenue come from. Esair is "the"
big adventure for us, but we need to make sure we don't get broken
doing it first! Bottom line, it's still unlikely there will be new
releases for the next couple of months, but we are looking at getting
back with a vengeance next year, which will see our new releases
focusing almost entirely on 28mm!

Next the crew: I'm very pleased to say we've started collaborating
with other very talented artists. I won't get into the details yet,
but you will soon have a chance to judge by yourself, and I'm quite
optimist you'll be amazed by what you'll see... ;)

Last but not least, support: lots of new raw material has been piling
up and will be released as soon as the new figures will start coming
out... the website is being reorganized as well, and there will be
lots of new pages for all factions, as well as more specific gaming
support, including TO&Es, scenarios, rules and stats.
There is a skirmish scale rule sets being developed specifically for
Esair, and we're also working on an adaptation of Impetus, which seems
very promising as a starting point for a larger scale battle system...
There is a free simplified version available in several languages at
http://www.dadiepiombo.com/basic2.html
check it out if you haven't yet...

That's all for now, thank you very much for your patience and support,
and keep an eye open for Esair: the return!

Cheers,

Claudio

Sounds like it might work.  I have been toying with using Rezolution and/or Gangs of Mega City One.  I'm looking for a rule set that would work for 10-12 figs per side.

-------------- Original message from "ibalunatic" <badwrongfun@...>: --------------

Hi, everyone. I recently came across Esair and Baueda. I've been
thinking about stand-in rules, and one that popped into mind was a
variant on GW's old Gorkamorka game (which is rumored to be up for
re-release as a Specialist Games pdf sometime this year).

Gorkamorka already has a rather orky theme, though admittedly of the
Games Workshop flavor. But with some modifications it might be
workable; Shreeks instead of warbikes, for instance, and Trogs
fighting over food sources and water rights rather than scrap metal.
It also has a rough campaign model grafted onto it which would need
more mofication (since Trogs don't have cybernetics or vehicle
upgrades) but might still be able to become something workable.

Admittedly not a perfect fit, and if I make a go of it I'll probably
end up turning it into something totally unrecognizable; I just
thought it might make for an interesting starting point.

Hi,

just two lines to confirm we are now operative and we have just
released a new range of WWII bunkers, scenic pieces and terrain in resin.

We are still waiting for the Italian Energy supply company to connect
us with the new power line we need to spin cast, so on that front
unfortunately the matter is out of our hands for the time being, but
as soon as that will be sorted (apparently no more than 60 working
days left now, fast hu?) we should finally be back in full swing and
Esair will be back in development.

That's all for now, just rest assured there are loads of new things on
the way, including many loose ends!

Cheers,

Claudio

Hi all,

just a quick note to let you know that everything appears to have gone
well this time and we now have a new workshop at last! As planned we
are now in the process of refurbishing the premises and moving in, but
unfortunately the Italian electric company being the shameful scam
that it is has let me know that the setting up of the power line
required will take "at least a couple of months". For the monumental
task of posing approximately four feet of cable that is actually very
good compared to their usual standards apparently.

Never mind, we hope to finish to unpack and set all the equipment to
work with resin in a couple of weeks, so the first batch of new
releases will be more historical scenics.

Next year should be the Esair year at long last, so please stay tuned
for the latest news, and thank you for your understanding!

Cheers,

Claudio

Hi all,
just a quick reminder for those of you lucky enough to be able to
attend Historicon (July 26-29, Lancaster, PA) that you will be able to
see your favorite Baueda models in the flesh there and get them
without postage fees from Ed of Wargames, Inc.
Address Box 278
Route 40 East,
Tridelphia, WV
26059-0278 UNITED STATES
Phone (304) 547-0000
1-800-221-2011 [orders only]
Fax (304) 845-7215
E-mail: wargames@...

A call in advance to check stock is always a good idea, but he should
have everything on hand!
You can order from their website too, even if they still don't feature
us on their web page, but if you ask Ed he should have the complete
Esair range in stock.

I'll take the occasion also to remind you we are going to be closed
from the 24th of July until the 20th of August and from there to
October we will be at last moving to the final location (Hurray!). We
expect some disruption and delay while we set up equipment etc. but as
soon as we're sorted we should start to churn out new models again!

Until then, enjoy the summer if you're in the northern part of the
ball and reasonably close to the equator, and have fun!

Ciao,

Claudio

hi all,
apologies for the long silence, but there was little point in posting
without having something concrete to say!

Now, we haven't actually solved the main problem yet, but al least we
can now see the end of the tunnel, hooray!
Unfortunately I'm afraid I'm still not in position to give any actual
date at this stage, we're still stuck in a hut in the middle of
nowhere, but at least I can now confirm we will be getting access to
our new workshop before the end of September.

Once we finally gain access to the property we will have to do some
serious refurbishing, and by the time we will be at least partially
operative again, assuming everything goes well, it will be full xmas
season... by then we will be real busy putting in production
all the new historical stuff we've been working on lately (Troy in
15mm, 28mm medieval tent and much, much more...) but we should manage
to release the 28mm Shreek riders for Trogs at long last!

The master for these have been ready for a while now, and I've posted
some preview pictures on the website just to wet your appetite:

http://www.esair.baueda.com/shoptrog.html

scroll down at the bottom of the page...

In the meantime, I've managed to recover a couple of the original
masters that didn't make it in the first release, so now we have two
new basha poses in TRG1!
I've updated the website with them but you can see them here in detail:
http://games.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/Esair/photos/view/a3c7?b=1

So as from now TRG1 pack will still include 4 figures, but instead of
having always the same 4 poses each pack will have 4 randomly selected
ones out of the 6 now available... and of course two more club designs
in the weapons mix! The two new poses are also well suited to be
converted to spearmen or javelinmen by simply swapping weapons, so
that should add some extra variation to your hordes!

Cheers!

Claudio

Actual I was reading WMA, I really like the Warmaster for the mass combat feel.
I think something like LOTR is better for true skirmish.

Yup, and flexible.
Sand would form a rigid film that cracks, but with sawdust the whole thing
can be folded without permanent damage. You'd get fold marks, but they'll
disappear after a while... :)

Hi,
that's not a board you can see in the pictures, is one of the terrain mats
mentioned in the article and that will be covered in depth in part 2...
we are also planning to produce and sell terrain mats like that, but
unfortunately this is another plan that was upset by the new workshop
delay... no workshop no mats, sorry the things are big and need to be laid
out flat to dry. We should enter the new place in september, so hopefully
we will have the first ones out in time for next xmas anyway.
As for part 2 of the article, I'm afraid we need to take the pictures
while we make one, so again same problem as above, but the basics are
quite simple:
synthetic material; coat with PVA, scatter generous amounts of sawdust on
it; let dry. Paint. Hey pronto, first class terrain mat! :)

Cheers,

Claudio

Look forward to reading the rules. Has anyone tried other skirmish
rules, along the Sci-Fi or Fantasy lines. I was looking at Gangs of
Mega City 1. I think this would work will and provide a great
campaign format.

Thank you Allen,

yup, must admit we did have quite a lot of fun... :)
We used an adapted version of a set of 1:1 simple, fast and fun rules for
ancient and medieval called FAST'n'FURIOUS! and designed by us for
skirmish scale games using 25-28mm or 1/72 plastic figures.
The rules are available freely here:
  http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/fandfskirmish
basing is standard DBx-compatible...

We had also set up special objectives, the background is the war for
supremacy that is currently shaking the Trog world, and each one was
playing a Trog leader attempting to increase his personal prestige by
performing a series of sacred rituals and beating the creeps out of
everyone else. The scenario was presented here in Italy, I'm still in the
process of translating it and then I'll post it in here... anyway the
rules are already in English and quite usable as they are!

Cheers,

Claudio

Hi! Hope you all had a great holiday!

We have made a few changes around... first the Trogs range has now
been moved to its own page, which you can access quickly using the
Trogs icon on the top right of the main page.
This is to free up the home page for the new releases which are at
last on the way.

Next, you may have noticed the new icons beside the Trog's one: they
are for the new factions and they will soon have their own page too,
with some introductory material at least, until the first figures are
released.
Also there is a hint about what's coming next on the top left of the
mainpage. That's the largest warbeast we're planning at the moment,
and we will start from the smaller ones, but just to tickle you a
bit... ;)

Last but not least, the January 2007 challenge is now open. If there
will be no more than one submission before the end of the month we
will extend it until the end of February, but after that we pick a
winner anyway, which means that if there is only one image submitted
will win by default...

Lots of new stuff on the way, so stay tuned!

Cheers!

Claudio

Dearest all,

just a quick message to let you know per time our winter closure times.
Baueda will be closed for business from the 23th December until
Thursday the 4th of January 2007.

If you send an order in during this time it will not be processed
until we get back and re-open on the 4th of january. We won't be able
to send you an invoice but payment will be collected immediately by
paypal. Your order will ship as soon as we get back!

The latest practical date to send an order in is by Friday the 15th of
December, but please be aware that due to the holiday season postal
congestion we can't guarantee it will be delivered before xmas anyway.

There won't be new releases until we re-open, but we're working to
outsourcing production so that we will be able to expand the range
without further delays in 2007.
For any question please feel free to contact me anytime.

All my best wishes, and have a great New Year!

Cheers,

Claudio
