Hi,
that's not a board you can see in the pictures, is one of the terrain mats
mentioned in the article and that will be covered in depth in part 2...
we are also planning to produce and sell terrain mats like that, but
unfortunately this is another plan that was upset by the new workshop
delay... no workshop no mats, sorry the things are big and need to be laid
out flat to dry. We should enter the new place in september, so hopefully
we will have the first ones out in time for next xmas anyway.
As for part 2 of the article, I'm afraid we need to take the pictures
while we make one, so again same problem as above, but the basics are
quite simple:
synthetic material; coat with PVA, scatter generous amounts of sawdust on
it; let dry. Paint. Hey pronto, first class terrain mat! :)

Saw dust.... I was thinking about using sand, but sanddust would be MUCH lighter....

Yup, and flexible. Sand would form a rigid film that cracks, but with sawdust the whole thing can be folded without permanent damage. You'd get fold marks, but...
