I'll get that after I get the calendar updated.
We will also need a photo for the front page (the current one is
copyrighted).
Finally, we need a name.
I know that "The Sophie Show" has been suggested, as has "Monday Night
Game Club". Any other ideas? Any preferences?

I believe that I have successfully moved all the files for all the
Monday night games and campaigns to our new website. Please take a
few minutes to look them over and check them - files for your games in
particular - to see if I have missed anything or egregiously screwed
anything up in a horrible way.
I will update our calendar this evening and add links, and our site

I'm glad. For what it's worth, I really do want everyone to feel
welcome at the Monday night games, and I'm genuinely sorry that some
people have not felt welcome. For my part, all but three of the gamers
in my current circle I met through the Monday night games either
directly or indirectly. And one of the three holdovers is Edmund. :-)
More than that, that's how I've made pretty much all my friends in Seattle.

Chatting over beer last night, it occurred to me that we need to renew
the posters in various stores around the area (most are now in tatters)
so we might as well make brand new Monday Night Games posters. We could
have small logos fro MSG, SGA, ECG and Dragonflight to indicate that
this is a multi-group event. Anyone has suggestions for what should go
on the poster?

I love the idea.
And if these take place at the MSG club and there are enough of us, we
might be able to convince MSG to morph our current limited membership
status to a different format next year, giving us a bit more flexibility
and providing them with more revenue.
Alternately, book signings and such can be held at Third Place Commons.
Game stores with large open space like Games & Gizmos in Redmond,
Fantastic Games in Edmonds, The Game Matrix in Tacoma, and Blue Highway
Games in Queen Anne, might be interested in hosting special events.

Totally. I want to bring in new non-gaming people to gaming, not just
rely on "old" gamers.

I'm with you. Change should be approached as a chance to do something
new, something better, not as a threat or a hurdle.

Don't take it personally.
We were the most vocal group on that list by an order of magnitude. The
list owner wanted a quieter list, not so focused on Monday night
gameplay but more on non-Monday night gaming (such as his own supers
recruiting), as well as esoteric game topics and game theory. I suspect
it will be more to his liking now, and will probably be quieter.
And we get this shiny new list that works for us without annoying anyone
else. It's a very positive thing.

Odds are good I won't be able to make that date; however, if I am I have
a slight preference for UA (but would play CoC as well).

Folks,
I'm going to be running either an Unknown Armies game or a Cthulhu
game on the 22nd of October. Does any one have a preference as to
which I run?
Thanks,

Its nice to know that we are still getting love on the SGA site.
For the record I think (hope) that Karl is /mostly/ kidding, but for me
the comments certainly felt ill-timed.

Same here. The Monday nights have been valuable beyond measuring to
me. I've found good friends here.

I think it would be wise to be plan to accommodate this because I
think it's inevitable that the group will grow. That's the trend now.
However, I don't think there's any real need to strive for growth
just for growth's sake. If we're doing something worthwhile and fun,
it'll grow.

This is a great idea. The Seattle area can really use a general
gaming scene list. One that is free of personal bias (to the extent
that is possible) with regards to posting policy and content.
It's my hope that we the users of this tool will wield it wisely and
sanely to the general benefit of the gaming community.
And hopefully we'll have some fun along the way too. That's the whole
point, if I'm not mistaken.

I think that as long as we keep in mind that this isn't serious
business... that we're engaged in this hobby to enjoy ourselves and
surround ourselves with friends, we can't help but be successful.
I have made everyone subscribed to the list a moderator for the time
being, so that everyone can dink around with the site, load things,
change font sizes, and generally muck about.
If anyone doesn't actually want the awesome power of a moderator, just
let me know and I will unmodify you.
- Edmund
I know how you feel; I was gone for a long weekend, and I discovered
over a hundred emails waiting for me...
At any event, I agree with you that this would be a good opportunity
to explore new directions for the group. There's lots and lots of
gaming companies here in the Seattle area, so maybe we can get a
speaker or two. Peter, would MSG feel comfortable hosting these sort
of things? Symposiums aren't qute the same thing as games.
As far as getting new blood, AFAICT most of the people discover SGA
through RPG.net and similar sites. Our own dear Sophie has such a web
following on RPG.net, she could easily change their wiki and spread
the word that this is the new place to go.

WTF?!?!?!
/reenactment

Thank you, thank you, I will be here until Thursday. Try the veal.
So a lot of things have been stated. Some nice, some not so nice.
Although my first reaction brought up images of both high school and
Molotov cocktails, I think I can add my semi constructive two cents.
I really enjoy Monday night games. The thing I liked best about it
that it made me feel welcome in a city in which I knew no one. That
being said, there are ways that it could be improved, and we can take
this moment and use it as an opportunity to make it better. For months
Ed has wanted to have multiple games running on the same night. I for
one agree with this sentiment and think that it is a good goal to
strive for.
The other thing that I think would be interesting is to have more than
games take place on Monday nights, or if not Monday nights on an
alternate night of the week. Things like gaming workshops, having
local industry come and discuss gaming, book signings, things like
that. I for one love to discuss gaming (the trick is getting me to
shut up ^_^ ), but I would much rather do it in person.
Lastly, with us no longer being members of SGA, we can no longer
depend on that list as a source of fresh meat that it once was.
Instead of fretting our loss, lets discuss methods of bringing in new
people! We can have sacrifice a friend to Cuthulu day, RPGs for
dummies who were always curious but didn't want to get beaten up day,
and my favorite, corrupt a kid day! It would be fantabulous!
Problems often arise when people wish for things to go back to the way
things were... or they take a reactionary view to change. I am
optimistic that we can continue to have success, and perhaps even
redefine success with the new change.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if games other than the Monday night MSG
games were talked about in here.
Some of us are in groups that meet at TPC or in other folks' homes,
and it might be nice to use this space as a general "Seattle Gaming
Scene" type place.
I know that's what the SGA list is supposed to be, but we seem to
generate too much noise for that group because we talk about &
schedule actual gameplay rather than restrict ourselves to more
esoteric gaming discussion.
