WELCOME TO THE INN
Greetings friends, fellow companions and `Lancers! Welcome back to
the Inn of the Last Home. It has been far too long since we met
last.
The last few months have been incredibly busy. You guys might have
noticed that we had some technical difficulties a while back. The
timing couldn't be worse on it, but we have since weathered the
storm and are back in action. On the upside, we're catching up on
our backlog of submissions, so there are lots of fun things there
too.
So grab your hoopaks and step into the Nexus. The portal to
adventure awaits!
CONGRATULATIONS PALADIN!
Our very own Paladin just got married! I've known Paladin (Matt)
for several years now, and I hope all of you will join me in
offering congratulations to Matt and his new bride. Way to go!
GAMING
The big news here is that the long-awaited conclusion to the Age of
Mortals campaign, Price of Courage, has been released! Penned by
the Whitestone Council's own Cam Banks, and clocking in at a massive
362 pages, Price of Courage will not only be the largest Dragonlance
gaming product ever, it will also be an instant classic. Not since
the original modules have we seen a Dragonlance adventure this
good. Price of Courage is just filled with content. Check out
Chapter Five for the appearance of a certain Sir Paladian Dragonhelm
of Castle Eastwatch!
Of course, Paladian makes his first official appearance in Knightly
Orders of Ansalon, which is co-penned by Sean Everette, Nicole
Harsch, Clark Valentine, and yours truly. This is the ultimate
sourcebook to the Knights of Solamnia, the Dark Knights, and the
Legion of Steel. This book includes revised Knight of Solamnia and
Legion of Steel classes, Dark Knight faction lords, and the closest
look at the Legion of Steel ever. Be sure to check out the
Ergothian Cavalier web enhancement on Dragonlance.com as well!
Plus, for those of you who love the original modules, Clark
Valentine and Sean Macdonald have adapted the first four of the
original modules to d20 format with Dragons of Autumn. Dragons of
Winter is currently in the works, as is Races of Ansalon. The
Revised Bestiary of Krynn has also been released recently in PDF
format. Price of Courage and the print version of Revised Bestiary
of Krynn should be in stores soon.
NOVELS
The novel front hasn't been quite as busy as the gaming side, but
has some gems as well. Alliances, book two of the Elven Exiles, has
recently been released. I won't give any spoilers away save to say
that we see some familiar faces. Dragons of the Dwarven Depths was
released this summer, and Dragons of the Highlord Skies will be in
print come summer 2007. Amber and Iron will be in paperback
shortly. Amber and Blood, the conclusion to the Dark Disciple
series, will be delayed some as Margaret Weis is working on Highlord
Skies at the moment. You can check out the Highlord Skies cover on
our forum.
Plus, the Dragonlance Chronicles will be released in a leatherbound
special collector's edition, paying tribute to the memory of Keith
Parkinson as well. This will be a great Dragonlance collector's
piece.
PODCASTING!
Yep, it's the latest craze – podcasting. We here at the Dragonlance
Nexus are big fans of the medium, listening to great podcasts such
as Slice of Sci-Fi, Dragonhearth, the Geeklabel Podcast (ding!), and
the Signal (amongst others!). So what does this have to do with
Dragonlance?
First, check out Dragon's Landing Inn #66 for a mention of the Nexus
and Dragons of Autumn, about 13:30 into the show. Plus, yours truly
does a gaming segment on the Signal, and Dragonlance author Tracy
Hickman has a nifty podcast called the Dragonhearth.
So we thought we'd get in on the action and do a Dragonlance
podcast. I won't say much beyond that right now, but coming
sometime next year – the Dragonlance Canticle.
NEW ON THE NEXUS
Characters seem to be the theme of late, including conversions of
several of the Chaos War characters, and even some True20 versions
of characters. Plus my own article called Heroes of Wild Sorcery.
If you think there are no roles for Dragonlance sorcerers, think
again! Plus tons of new art submissions and the ever-expanding
Lexicon.
ALL FOR NOW
That's it for now, guys! I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.
If you don't celebrate the holiday in your country, then please give
thanks for something you are grateful for. Stay shiny, and I'll see
you all soon.
Long Live the Lance!
