We should have pricing and dates for Vegascon 2008 out to you guys
next week (we hope). The Sahara's new owners took over management last
night so I should be able to get some coherent and consistant
information out of them soon. They've been a right bit of fun nailin
down...

Anyone else looking forward to it as much as I am?

Which reminds me, if anyone has anything they'd like to see put on a
group activity list it's never to early to start throwing out ideas.
Shenney and I are already thinking about the group dinner as well as
which show we want to attend this year. Input is always appreciated.

And as usual, we can always use more help planning this baby so if
anyone's interested in chipping in behinds the scenes feel free to
volunteer now. Or next week...or next month, or the week before. We're
always open to more people helping out!

Any chance you people with an "in" to the "man" can get him to put up
a pole or something on the DR website to see how much interest we
might have this year.  I'm thinking it should be better than last
year but I'd like to see some rough numbers.  Looking forward to
another fun year at the Sahara and any normal kind of restaraunt
sounds better than indian food to me.

We are currently aiming for the end of Febuary.  Based on the website
prices it looks the fourth weekend... I'll know more once I get the
group sales office to stop transferring my phone calls. =)

Here's just a little run down of a quick search I did for some
possible fun dinner places to have our group dinner!

1. Lucky Cheng's (David's suggestion that looks fun! They won me with
the word Karaoke.)
It's a drag queen cabaret comedy karaoke restaurant that's basically
an off-Broadway show and dinner. (http://www.planetluckychengs.com)
Cuisine: Pan-Asian
Price: $32-$40 for salad, appetizers, entree, dessert (basically the
full shebang). It is served family-style much like last year's Marrakech.

2. Imperial Hawaiian Luau
I'm not sure if they'll rerun the show in the spring during February,
but it's basically a Hawaiian Luau buffet with hula lessons,
sing-a-longs, fire knife dances, etc.

I think you may be getting the dinner theater, which should be fine as long as
you aren't
allergic to horses, mixed up with one of the roller coaster style movie rides,
where the
coaster moves around without going anyplace.

This used to have another theme, back when I rode the ride, something on the
order of a
space shuttle runing through asteroids, firing off lasers, and a space dog
fight, if I
remember correctly. It is one of theose static roller coaster rides, where you
get all the
bumps and shoves without actually moving anywhere.

I believe that there is a similar ride, Star Trek themed, associated with the
Las Vegas Hilton
where Quark's Bar is.

As another alternative, I seem to remember that a group of us had an enjoyable
time at
Benihana's at the Las Vegas Hilton a couple of years ago, too. Let's ya stop at
Quark's

Not only did we work out a better deal than last year but these are
also for DELUXE rooms! The average price for Thurs.-Sund. will be
$98 + tax.

Con Registration.
After a lot of talking amongst ourselves we finally came to the
conclusion that the rates would have to change. However, we really
disliked raising the rates so we finally came up with a compromise
we could live with. We're really running a tight budget this year
due to the space we have reserved, if we don't have enough people
registered online we'll have to downsize. This means we'll risk
being in a cramped area if too many show up at the door. Therefore,
we've lowered the pre-reg and raised the door price in order to give
you guys yet another great incentive to book early. But really who
needs to think past drunken booze and partying with your fellow DR
addicts?

Pre-Registration: $30.
Registration: 	 $45
Door: 	 $60

We'll have exact dates of when Pre-Reg and Reg. will close once I
talk with Bubba and see when we can get these posted to the website.
If anyone has any questions feel free to get in contact with me,
David, or Shenney...or just post on the boards as usual.

That said, now it's onto the fun part! Planning schedules, deciding
where to host the group dinner, oh and my favorite part. Wrangling

We're looking for a new Vegascon logo, since it's been years since the
last one and an update would be nice.

Would anyone like to try their hand at this? It doesn't have to be
crazy large or complex. We're just looking for something that we could
put onto badge holders, possible t-shirts, shot glasses, etc.
