Hi chaps, some of you may have noticed that I have not posted here for a while.
Those of you who play tournaments we also know that I am Pete Haines noisy
sidekick. Well, the simple reason is that after Ascot earlier this year I had
decided that Derby 09 would be my last DBMM competition. To be honest, I only
intended to play at Derby because I had already promised to form a team with
Pete Haines & Dave Ruddock. However, now that Pete has thrown in the towel,
Derby has become irrelevant (sorry Dave).
Unlike Pete (who has always been polite, friendly, sophisticated, thoughtful and
a consummate wordsmith) I am know for being gobby, brash, bombastic and very
outspoken. While I have kept silent and grown increasingly annoyed on the
side-lines, Pete has tried in vain to bring some sense, logic and objective
reasoning to this forum in a manner far more eloquent than I ever could.
Unfortunately, in the end, even Pete has had enough of the bias, idiocy, anality
and navel gazing that can be found in many quarters. The fact is that DBMM will
never be more than a minority set of ancient wargaming rules because those
responsible for its development DO NOT really care for it to become anything
else. Furthermore, this forum has directly contributed to this situation and on
balance has probably done more harm than good.
I have really enjoyed my 18 months playing in the DBMM tournament circuit and
have met some really good people (Dave Mather, Dave Ruddock, Tim Child, Jim
Gibson, Ray Briggs and Neil Sutherland, to name but a few). Regards to you all.
Chris Robinson
PS. For those of you who have not got the IQ or are simply too delusional (or
Australian) to understand, let me explain…Cv(S) and Kn(S) are far too cheep and
far too effective! (and this is coming from a paid up member of the pony club!)
