Sirens filled the air around St. Bridget's elementary school at 9:00
a.m. as an ambulance pulled up in front of the adjacent building, and
the paramedics rushed inside.

Although the teachers did what they could to manage the children and
keep them out of the way, rumors (each one more wild than the last)
began to circulate through the school.

By noon, the rumors were stilled with an announcement: "Attention
please. We have received word from the hospital that Father Joseph
had a major stroke. We will now pray for Father, and you are
requested to keep him in your prayers throughout the week. Hail
Mary…"
