Jacobee laughs. "Ya. They actually had to get up and change the
channel on the television set! How stone age is that?"

**********
"Hey, that's a great idea! But I'd do the same thing for two of the
female characters. I mean, in the movie, Sam seemed to be a bit over-
protective of Frodo, esepcially when Golem came on the scene. But
maybe you could have one of the other characters be over-
protective."
Jacobee pauses for a moment. ::Do I really want to do this? THere's
a noble right there... It'd probably put a bee in her bonnet... But
after what happened, I have a right to be mad... I shouldn't take it
out on her, but maybe if I word it right...::
"Like Legolas towards Gimli. I mean, the elfs and the dwarfs were
supposed to hate each other, right? Well, what if that hate
was 'cause the elfs thought they were better than the other races,
and thought they had to take care of them 'for their own good'? Of
course, that was said about the Irish and Blacks too, back in the
1800s. But what really happened was slavery, either recognized or
unrecognized, and a loss of rights for those slaves.
"And there was supposed to be a scene that didn't make it into the
movie where Gimli and Legolas became friends, right? Well, I haven't
read that scene, but maybe Legolas could see that Gimli doesn't need
his "help" and that could start off the friendship? And as the
Faramir/Frodo over-protectiveness grows worse, Gimli and Legolas'
over-protective issues could get better, 'till Legolas realizes that
his kind is no better than any other race, and that all the races
should be treated with equality and fairness."
He takes a breath and shrugs. "Just a thought that you can take or
leave as you want. Like I said, I didn't fully read the books, so I
don't know what was supposed to happen."
